It was Ellen DeGeneres’ idea to have pizza delivered during the 2014 Oscar broadcast and it was her idea to have it actually brought into the Kodak Theatre by a real pizza delivery guy. Edgar Martirosyan, co-owner of Big Mama’s and Papa’s Pizzeria, was told he was delivering a big pizza order to the writers room at the Oscars, but Ellen’s plan was to have him come out and deliver pizza to some of the celebs seated in the first few rows. Martirosyan wasn’t prepared, but handled it well. In fact, he even had the opportunity to deliver a slice to his favorite actress – Julia Roberts.
Following his appearance on the Oscars, Martirosyan sat down with Ellen to chat about the experience. Another surprise came when she handed him a $1000 tip, $600 of which was collected from the A-list celebs while Ellen threw in $400 of her own money.
