Freeform brought Shadowhunters actors and executive producers to the New York Comic Con to talk about season two of the supernatural series, based on The Mortal Instruments novels by Cassandra Clare, and to unveil the season two trailer. The network also just released two clips from season two and it was announced that The Vampire Diaries star Paul Wesley will be directing an episode of the series.

Season two will premiere on January 2, 2017 at 8pm ET/PT with an episode titled ‘The Guilty Blood.’ The cast is led by Katherine McNamara and Dominic Sherwood and includes Alberto Rosende, Emeraude Toubia, Harry Shum Jr, Matthew Daddario, and Isaiah Mustafa.

The Plot: The second season of Shadowhunters returns with the Shadow world in upheaval as Valentine and The Circle continue to grow stronger by the minute and our Shadowhunter team quickly becoming disillusioned with The Clave and their reaction to the recent events. Loyalties will be tested, unlikely bonds will be made and relationships will be pushed to the limit as the Shadowhunters and their Downworlder friends are making their own way in a new world.
