‘Sons of Anarchy’ Season 4 Sets a Record

FX’s gritty drama Sons of Anarchy returned for the fourth season on September 6, 2011, setting a record as the series’ most watched episode ever. 4.94 million viewers tuned in to see the show’s 4th season premiere, topping last year’s debut of 4.13 million. And after two encore showings of the 90-minute extended episode, the 4th season premiere went up to 7.2 million viewers.

The show’s previous high for a single episode was the season two finale (4.32 million total viewers).

The fourth season premiere also set new records for households (3.42 million), Women 18-49 (1.325 million), Adults 18-34 (1.8 million), Women 18-34 (746,000), Adults 25-54 (3.03 million), and Women 25-54 (1.34 million).

“I want to thank [series creator] Kurt Sutter and our amazing cast and crew for a job well done, along with our programming, marketing and publicity departments,” stated John Landgraf, President and General Manager, FX Networks in a press release. “Last night’s ratings are indicative of the passion the audience has for this wonderful show. Kurt has crafted one of the most compelling series on television, with the raw, blow-your-hair-back energy of a wide open Harley and the subtle complexity of a great book.”
