‘Squid Game’ Inspires an Actual Reality Competition Series

456 contestants will be vying for the largest payout in reality competition series history with Netflix’s Squid Game: The Challenge. The just-announced competition series is, obviously, inspired by the critically acclaimed, award-winning series and will offer a game-changing $4.56 million grand prize to the last person standing.

Netflix is now actively searching for the 456 contestants worthy of taking on the challenge via SquidGameCasting.com. Per the official announcement: “For this round, the Front Man is in search of English-language speakers from any part of the world.”

Squid Game took the world by storm with Director Hwang’s captivating story and iconic imagery. We’re grateful for his support as we turn the fictional world into reality in this massive competition and social experiment,” stated Brandon Riegg, Netflix VP of Unscripted and Documentary Series. “Fans of the drama series are in for a fascinating and unpredictable journey as our 456 real world contestants navigate the biggest competition series ever, full of tension and twists, with the biggest ever cash prize at the end.”

Filming of the 10-episode first season will take place in the UK. Studio Lambert’s Stephen Lambert, Tim Harcourt, and Toni Ireland will executive produce with The Garden’s John Hay, Nicola Hill, and Nicola Brown.
