Victoria Platt says fans of Star-Crossed have been sending in photos of themselves tattooed like the Atrians and as a sci-fi fan Platt’s fully supportive of the involvement and enthusiasm of the audience. The cast also takes part in live-tweeting the show, connecting with fans while discussing each new episode.

And Star-Crossed cast members also presented a panel at the 2014 WonderCon in Anaheim, CA, and sat down for interviews to chat about what viewers can expect from the remaining episodes of season one. Check out what Victoria Platt (‘Gloria’) and Chelsea Gilligan (‘Teri’) had to say about the upcoming epic finale and life on the set.

Victoria Platt and Chelsea Gilligan Interview

Was the appeal the fact that Star-Crossed is a sci-fi program?

Victoria Platt: “No. I think that that was the cherry on top for me because whenever you audition for something, it’s really just about the job. Who you are as a person, what you like as a person is sort of separate. That was just an additional thing for Victoria the person. Victoria the actor is like, ‘Yes, a job!’ Victoria the person is like, ‘It’s sci-fi!'”

What is the set like?

Chelsea Gilligan: “Our sets are awesome, the Sector in particular is just incredible. It’s exactly how it is in the show, but of course, they have to CGI the higher things. But it’s like you step back in time. It’s crazy. It’s really neat.”

Was it what you expected from reading the script and then going to the actual set?

Chelsea Gilligan: “It was more than what I expected. When I read it initially I was like, ‘This is going to be badass!’ And then when we walk onto the set it’s like, ‘Okay, we’re getting real now. We’re doing something really cool right now.'”

From episode one to the finale, how much has your character changed?

Chelsea Gilligan: “Well, right now Teri is definitely a hardcore, intense badass and I think as the episodes keep progressing getting towards the finale, we do see a little bit of a softer side of her – but not necessarily. So, don’t get excited – but kind of. She definitely has a heart and a lot of people don’t really know that so it’s cool to see that she does want to take care of people, she does want to be involved. But at the end of the day, she’ll kick your butt if you cross her.”

Victoria Platt: “I love that about Teri. I do! For Gloria, I think what we saw in beginning was actually hiding all of the stuff she had hidden. She has to put forward this really strong, really immovable base because nobody can know that she’s had a relationship with an Atrian. No one can know that it’s Nox, and no one can know that she has this half-alien/half-human baby.

So I think what you’re seeing more is a reveal more of what she’s been dealing with over the season and not necessarily a change in her. Obviously, giving away her child does soften her a bit but I also think it makes her a lot more clear and focused about her goal and the integration program, and getting it really successful so that she can get her kid back.”

Do you like playing the hardcore badass or do you prefer the softer side?

Chelsea Gilligan: “I love it because I’m so not hardcore in real life so just to be able to take my earrings off and head-butt people, it’s awesome! I love it. It’s fun.”

Any accidents on the set so far?

Chelsea Gilligan: “Yes. In episode four with the big fight scene by the pool, we’d been rehearsing all day and it was great. It was me and a bunch of stunt guys, and I don’t know what was happening but like their testosterone was getting the better of themselves and they yell, ‘Action!’ and I’m like, ‘Here we go.’ So we barrel through these doors and I was pushed into the pool and that was not supposed to happen.”

Victoria Platt: “And she was leather-clad.”

Chelsea Gilligan: “Leather, head to toe. It was a mess. I got dry pretty quickly though so it wasn’t that bad, but it was definitely something that wasn’t supposed to happen.”

Do you sink automatically when you’re in leather?

Chelsea Gilligan: “I don’t know. That’s a good question! I don’t remember. I remember just falling in and being like, ‘I’ve got to get out! I need to get out of here!’ I have video of it too. It’s bad.”

What can fans expect out of the season one finale? We hear it’s epic.

Chelsea Gilligan: “It is epic. You guys need to sit down, definitely, for what’s about to happen. Keep watching and get ready for epic-ness because it’s going to get epic and crazy and explosions and all that.”

Victoria Platt: “A lot more action.”

Do you think it sets up a second season that will be more action?

Victoria Platt: “Oh yeah.”

Chelsea Gilligan: “Hardcore.”

Victoria Platt: “It really does because then you begin to understand… It answers a lot more questions and a lot more people know the truth. A lot of people find out the truth about things that the entire season they didn’t know.”
