Disney+ unveiled a new The Acolyte trailer on Star Wars Day (May the fourth), which just happens to be one month out from the series’ premiere date. The new trailer reveals more about the show’s tone (it’s dark) and issues a warning: “No one is safe from the truth.”

Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game) and Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give) lead a cast that includes Manny Jacinto (Nine Perfect Strangers), Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials), and Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim). Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), Dean-Charles Chapman (1917), Joonas Suotamo (Star Wars‘ Chewbacca), and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix franchise) also star in the newest addition to the Star Wars franchise, set 100 years before Phantom Menace.

Lucasfilm’s The Acolyte premieres on June 4, 2024 with the release of the first two episodes. New episodes stream on Tuesdays.

“In The Acolyte, an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Stenberg),” reads Disney+’s synopsis. “As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems…”

Leslye Headland created the series, executive produces, and directed the first two episodes. Additional executive producers include Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef. Producers include Rayne Roberts, Damian Anderson, Eileen Shim, and Rob Bredow.

Kogonada directed episodes three and seven, with Alex Garcia Lopez directing episodes four and five. Hanelle Culpepper directed episodes six and eight.
