Netflix’s series adaptation of Carley Fortune’s This Summer Will Be Different has added four new cast members. The streamer announced Malin Akerman (The Hunting Wives) will play Aunt Stacy, Megan Follows (Buried in Barstow) has signed on as Cheryl, Nadine Bhabha (Heated Rivalry) joins as Farah, and Matias Lucas (The Order) will play Carter.
The newly announced cast join Sophie Nélisse (Heated Rivalry), Francesca Reale (Stranger Things), and Roby Attal (The Haunting of Bly Manor) as filming moves from Prince Edward Island to Toronto.
“This Summer Will Be Different is a simmering, sun-soaked romance set across multiple summers on Prince Edward Island about Lucy, a young woman navigating her 20s and her first real love with her best friend’s brother, the one person she was never supposed to fall for,” reads Netflix’s synopis.
Dane Clark (Suze, One More Time) and Linsey Stewart (Workin’ Moms, North of North) created the series and serve as showrunners and executive producers. Author Carley Fortune, Jennifer Kawaja (Sort Of, Wayward), Elise Cousineau (Cardinal, Small Achievable Goals), and Samantha Levine are also executive producing the series, which is a Sphere Media production.
