The Big Bang Theory universe is expanding once more, with CBS giving a series order to an untitled Young Sheldon spinoff. The new half-hour comedy will focus on Georgie and Mandy, played by Montana Jordan and Emily Osment, and follow the young couple as they raise their family and navigate the challenges of adulthood, parenting, and marriage.

“From the Big Bang Theory to Young Sheldon, the world of the Cooper family has been incredibly special to us,” stated creators and executive producers Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, and Steve Holland. “We’re very excited to continue their stories through the eyes of Georgie and Mandy.”

CBS is expected to add the Young Sheldon spinoff to its primetime lineup during the 2024-2025 broadcast season.

“It has been a privilege to spend the last seven years with Sheldon and the Cooper family and now this wonderful journey will continue with Georgie and Mandy,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “Chuck and both Steves have done a masterful job developing these characters and entertaining generations of fans with relatable, heartwarming stories brought to life by Montana and Emily. We eagerly look forward to the next chapter in this beloved universe.”

The seventh and final season of Young Sheldon stars Iain Armitage as Sheldon, Zoe Perry as Mary, Lance Barber as George Sr., Annie Potts as Meemaw, Raegan Revord as Missy, Osment, and Jordan. Big Bang Theory‘s Jim Parson voices the adult Sheldon. The final season, which ranks as TV’s top comedy, airs on Thursdays at 8pm ET/PT.

The series will wrap up with back-to-back episodes on May 16th.
