Well, that didn’t take long at all. Banshee just premiered on Cinemax on January 11, 2013 and Cinemax is so happy with the series they’ve given it a season two renewal. Executive produced by Alan Ball (True Blood), Jonathan Tropper, David Schickler, Peter Macdissi, and Greg Yaitanes, Banshee has been getting overwhelmingly positive reviews – thus, a second season order.

Season one of the action series airs on Fridays at 10pm. Season two will air in 2014.

The first season was written by Tropper and Schickler. Season two will add John Romano, Evan Dunsky, and Doug Jung as writers. The cast includes Antony Starr, Ivana Milicevic, Ulrich Thomsen, Frankie Faison, Hoon Lee, Rus Blackwell, Matt Servitto, Demtrius Grosse, Trieste Kelly Dunn, Ryann Shane, Daniel Ross Owens, Lili Simmons, and Ben Cross.

The Plot:

Banshee stars Antony Starr as Lucas Hood, an ex-con and master thief who assumes the identity of the sheriff of Banshee, Pa., where he continues his criminal activities, even as he’s hunted by the shadowy gangsters he betrayed years earlier.
