Jack Black and Paul Rudd play BFFs hunted by a gigantic snake in the trailer for Columbia Pictures’ Anaconda. Of course, they wouldn’t be in this predicament if they hadn’t made the bizarre decision to remake the campy 1997 action film starring Jennifer Lopez and Ice Cube.
Steve Zahn (Silo), Thandiwe Newton (Wednesday), Daniela Melchior (Road House), and Selton Mello also star. The original film was directed by Luis Llosa, with Tom Gormican (The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent) directing the 2025 action comedy.
“Doug (Black) and Griff (Rudd) have been best friends since they were kids and have always dreamed of remaking their all-time favorite movie: the cinematic ‘classic’ Anaconda,” reads Columbia Pictures. “When a midlife crisis pushes them to finally go for it, they head deep into the Amazon to start filming. But things get real when an actual giant anaconda appears, turning their comically chaotic movie set into a deadly situation. The movie they’re dying to make? It might just get them killed……”
Gormican and Kevin Etten wrote the screenplay and serve as producers. Brad Fuller and Andrew Form also produce, with Samson Mücke executive producing.
Anaconda opens in theaters on Christmas 2025.
