Oscar winner Anne Hathaway seems determined not to let more than a few months go by without a film opening this year. Hathaway began her 2026 run with Mother Mary, followed quickly by The Devil Wears Prada 2 and The Odyssey. Next up, Hathaway has The End of Oak Street, opening on August 14, and Verity, which just unveiled an incredibly creepy official trailer.
Hathaway stars opposite Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett in the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel. The cast also includes Ismael Cruz Cordova and Brady Wagner.
“This seductive, psychological thriller follows renowned author Verity Crawford (Hathaway) and Lowen Ashleigh (Johnson), a struggling writer who relocates to the remote Crawford estate to ghostwrite for Verity,” reads Amazon MGM Studios’ synopsis. “After Lowen uncovers what appears to be Verity’s chilling autobiographical notes, she wrestles with the disturbing and twisted confessions about Verity’s husband, Jeremy (Hartnett), and finds it hard to separate fiction from reality, manipulation from attraction, and opportunity from obsession.”
Nick Antosca adapted Hoover’s novel and Michael Showalter directs. Antosca, Showalter, Hoover, Hathaway, Alex Hedlund, Stacey Sher, and Jordana Mollick serve as producers. Kerry Orent, Dakota Johnson, and Lauren Levine are executive producers.
