Warner Bros. Pictures has finally released official photos from the long-awaited Beetlejuice sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. The photos show Michael Keaton back in character in the titular role; returning stars Catherine O’Hara as Delia and Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz; and Beetlejuice newcomers Jenna Ortega as Astrid and Justin Theroux as Rory.
The 2024 sequel to Tim Burton’s 1988 Oscar-winning comedy also stars Monica Bellucci (Spectre), Arthur Conti (House of the Dragon), and Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe (Poor Things).
“Beetlejuice is back! After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened,” reads Warner Bros’ synopsis. “With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.”
Two-time Oscar nominee Tim Burton directs from a screenplay by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. Burton, Marc Toberoff, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Tommy Harper serve as producers. Executive producers include Gough, Millar, Sara Desmond, Katterli Frauenfelder, Brad Pitt, Larry Wilson, Laurence Senelick, Pete Chiappetta, Andrew Lary, Anthony Tittanegro, Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg.
Burton’s behind the scenes team includes director of photography Haris Zambarloukos (Meg 2: The Trench), production designer Mark Scruton (Wednesday), editor Jay Prychidny (Wednesday), Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood (Alice in Wonderland, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Sleepy Hollow), Oscar-winning creature effects and special makeup FX creative supervisor Neal Scanlan (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), and Oscar-nominated composer Danny Elfman (Big Fish, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman). Oscar-winner Christine Blundell (Topsy-Turvy) is the hair and makeup designer.
Warner Bros. Pictures is releasing Beetlejuice Beetlejuice in theaters and IMAX on September 6, 2024.
