Searchlight Pictures unveiled an official trailer for its Oscar hopeful Behemoth! starring Pedro Pascal. Filmmaker Tony Gilroy turns the spotlight on the talented artists behind the music in his new film, set for theatrical release on December 4, 2026.
Writer and director Tony Gilroy credits recording the score to Rogue One back in 2016 with sparking the idea that eventually became Behemoth. After completing two seasons of Andor, Gilroy fully turned his attention to this idea that had been percolating for years. “Behemoth! is a love letter to the movie music of Southern California, the tradition and value and beauty of it,” stated two-time Oscar nominee Gilroy. “I want audiences to lean in and say, ‘Is that how they create a film score?’ We’re taking you someplace you’ve never been, but that’s always been part of your life. No one’s ever really gone into an appreciation for where the music comes from in cinema — really looked at it or the people who make that music.”
In addition to Pascal, Gilroy’s film stars Will Arnett, Olivia Wilde, Eva Victor, Hank
Azaria, JoBeth Williams, Alexa Swinton, and Kaya Ralls.
“A gifted cellist returns home to Los Angeles after 20 years on the road,” reads Searchlight Pictures’ synopsis. “Music, which has been the constant, all-consuming river of his life, swells into an adventure that will change him forever.”
Nine composers, known as “The Behemoth! Collective,” contributed to the film’s original score, including Michael Abels, Emily Bear, Lukas Frank, Michael Giacchino, James Newton Howard, Henry Jackman, Nami Melumad, Brandon Roberts, and Alan Silvestri.
