‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’ Trailer: Who’s the Father?

The international trailer for Universal Pictures’ Bridget Jones’s Baby has arrived with Renee Zellweger back in the lead but this time out she’s about to be a first-time mom. The problem is she doesn’t know whether her ex-boyfriend (Colin Firth) is the dad or the new guy in her life (Patrick Dempsey) is the father. Directed by Bridget Jones’s Diary‘s Sharon Maguire, the cast also includes Emma Thompson, Jim Broadbent, and Gemma Jones. Eric Fellner, Tim Bevan, and Debra Hayward produced the comedy sequel.


Bridget Jones’s Diary starring Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth, and Hugh Grant opened in theaters on April 31, 2001 and made $282 million before exiting theaters. Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason followed on November 12, 2004 and grossed $262 million during its theatrical run. Bridget Jones’s Baby is set to open in theaters on September 16, 2016.

The Plot: After breaking up with Mark Darcy (Firth), Bridget Jones’s (Zellweger) “happily ever after” hasn’t quite gone according to plan. Fortysomething and single again, she decides to focus on her job as top news producer and surround herself with old friends and new. For once, Bridget has everything completely under control. What could possibly go wrong? Then her love life takes a turn and Bridget meets a dashing American named Jack (Dempsey), the suitor who is everything Mr. Darcy is not. In an unlikely twist she finds herself pregnant, but with one hitch…she can only be fifty percent sure of the identity of her baby’s father.
