The second teaser for Roadside Attractions’ twisted horror film Buddy ends with what appears to be a huge burn scar down the side of the titular character’s face … or it could be something much more sinister. It’s difficult to tell because the giant orange unicorn is hidden behind a fence.
The new teaser was released ahead of the film’s planned panel during this week’s San Diego Comic-Con. The film’s hosting a panel in Ballroom 20, the second largest meeting room at SDCC, on Friday at 1:45pm. Director/co-writer Casper Kelly, Delaney Quinn, producers Raphael Margules and J.D. Lifshitz, and lead puppeteer Devon Ludlow are scheduled to participate. Buddy’s also supposed to put in a special appearance.

“Remember BUDDY—the bright orange unicorn and star of that classic childrens’ television show who brought joy and life lessons into your living room?” reads Roadside Attractions’ synopsis. “Inside the colorful world of It’s Buddy!, a group of children spend their days singing, dancing, and helping Buddy spread happiness. But when one child refuses to play along, Buddy is not pleased and cracks begin to appear in this seemingly perfect world.”
In addition to Delaney Quinn, the film stars Cristin Milioti, Patton Oswalt, Michael Shannon, Topher Grace, and Keegan-Michael Key. Director Kelly co-wrote the film with Jamie King, and both serve as executive producers along with Kevin Flanigan, Dexter Braff, Roberto Linck, Nathan McAuley, Emilio Schenker, Gideon Tadmor, Adam J. Wilde, Geoff Yaw, and Ryan J. Kelly. Producers include Tyler Davidson, Drew Sykes, Raphael Margules, J.D. Lifshitz, and Tracy Rosenblum.
Roadside Attractions will release Buddy in theaters on August 28, 2026.
