Eddie Murphy lives to regret a deal he makes with an elf in Prime Video’s Candy Cane Lane. The trailer for the streaming service’s new holiday movie shows the Oscar-nominee’s attempt to get a leg up on the holiday decorating competition has unexpected results.
In addition to Eddie Murphy, the family-friendly comedy stars Tracee Ellis Ross, Jillian Bell, Thaddeus J. Mixson, Ken Marino, Nick Offerman, Robin Thede, and Chris Redd. Genneya Walton, Madison Thomas, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, Lombardo Boyar, D.C. Young Fly, Danielle Pinnock, Timothy Simons, Riki Lindhome, and Stephen Tobolowsky also star.
Director Reginald Hudlin reunites with his Boomerang star and producer Brian Grazer for Murphy’s first-ever holiday film. Kelly Younger wrote the screenplay, which was inspired by his holidays spent on Candy Cane Lane in El Segundo, CA.
“Eddie Murphy stars in this holiday comedy adventure about a man on a mission to win his neighborhood’s annual Christmas home decoration contest. After Chris (Murphy) inadvertently makes a deal with a mischievous elf named Pepper (Bell) to better his chances of winning, she casts a magic spell that brings the 12 Days of Christmas to life, and wreaks havoc on the whole town,” reads Prime Video’s synopsis of the PG-rated film. “At the risk of ruining the holidays for his family, Chris, his wife Carol (Ellis Ross), and their three children must race against the clock to break Pepper’s spell, battle deviously magical characters, and save Christmas for everyone.”
Candy Cane Lane premieres on Prime Video December 1, 2023.
