‘Cats’ – A Sneak Peek Behind the Scenes

Universal Pictures and Working Title are teasing Cats fans with a taste of the upcoming film. The studio’s just unveiled a three-minute behind the scenes look at the making of the musical, complete with interview snippets with Taylor Swift, Judi Dench, Rebel Wilson, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, and James Corden.

Oscar winner Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech) directs and adapted the screenplay with Lee Hall. The story’s based on Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot and the musical Cats by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Tony Award winner Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton, In the Heights) is the film’s choreographer.

Cats is set to open in theaters on December 20. 2019.

Universal describes the movie as “reimagining the musical for a new generation with spectacular production design, state-of-the-art technology, and dance styles ranging from ballet to contemporary, hip-hop to jazz, street to tap.”

Debra Hayward, Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, and Tom Hooper are producing. The executive producers are Andrew Lloyd Webber, Steven Spielberg, Angela Morrison, and Jo Burn.
