The latest trailer for 20th Century Fox’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes shows the community of apes living together in peace, teaching the youngsters in outdoor classrooms, and basically just minding their own business. All of that changes when a man stumbles upon their community and pulls a gun.

Directed by Matt Reeves, the cast is led by Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, and Keri Russell, and includes Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo, and Judy Greer. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will open in theaters on July 11, 2014.

The Plot:

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
