First Look: Divergent Movie Trailer

Will Divergent be able to break the young adult book-to-movie string of bad luck? The first footage debuted with MTV’s Video Music Awards and those who aren’t familiar with Veronica Roth’s book series may believe this is just a Hunger Games wannabe. It’s not. Roth’s created a world just as harsh and inhospitable as that of Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games series, but Roth’s book series has very little else in common with Collins’.

Directed by Neil Burger, the cast includes Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Jai Courtney, Ray Stevenson, Zoe Kravitz, Miles Teller, Maggie Q, Tony Goldwyn, Ashley Judd, Ansel Elgort, Mekhi Phifer, Ben Lamb, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Christian Madsen, Amy Newbold, and Kate Winslet.

Summit Entertainment’s releasing Divergent in theaters on March 21, 2014.

The Plot:

Divergent is a thrilling action-adventure set in a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities. Tris Prior (Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it’s too late.
