‘Hereditary’ New Trailer: Super Creepy Trailer Arrives for the 2018 Horror Film

After a successful festival run, A24 is set to release the horror film Hereditary in theaters on June 8, 2018. The studio’s just released a new trailer along with another poster from the film which marks the feature film writing and directorial debut of Ari Aster.

Hereditary currently sits at 100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with RogerEbert.com’s Brian Tallerico calling it a “deeply unsettling film, the kind of horror movie that pulls from relatable human emotions like grief and resentment to ultimately become an absolute nightmare.” Variety’s Owen Gleiberman has high praise for the film’s star Toni Collette: “Collette’s performance is staggering. She plays Annie as a woman who begins to wear her buried rage and guilt on the outside.”

In addition to Oscar nominee Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense), the cast includes Alex Wolff (The House of Tomorrow), Milly Shapiro, Ann Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale, Good Behavior), and Gabriel Byrne (Vikings, In Treatment). Hereditary was executive produced by Jonathan Gardner, William Kay, and Ryan Kreston. Kevin Scott Frakes, Lars Knudsen, and Buddy Patrick served as producers.

The Plot: When Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away, her daughter’s family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited.

Making his feature debut, writer-director Ari Aster unleashes a nightmare vision of a domestic breakdown that exhibits the craft and precision of a nascent auteur, transforming a familial tragedy into something ominous and deeply disquieting, and pushing the horror movie into chilling new terrain with its shattering portrait of heritage gone to hell.
