Jojo Rabbit Debuts a Completely Bonkers Trailer

Fox Searchlight’s unveiled the official trailer for Jojo Rabbit and it’s as bizarre and twisted as you’d expect. Directed by What We Did In the Shadows and Thor: Ragnarok‘s Taika Waititi, Jojo Rabbit finds the filmmaker playing Adolf Hitler. Yes, that’s correct…Taika Waititi is playing Adolf Hitler in what he describes as an anti-hate satire.

Roman Griffin Davis takes on the title role. The cast also includes Scarlett Johansson (Avengers: Endgame), Oscar-winner Sam Rockwell (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), Rebel Wilson (the Pitch Perfect films), Stephen Merchant (Good Boys), Thomasin McKenzie (Leave No Trace), and Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones).

Waititi wrote the screenplay, based on Christine Leunens book Caging Skies. Waititi also produced with Carthew Neal and Chelsea Winstanley.

Fox Searchlight is set to open in theaters on October 18, 2019.

The Jojo Rabbit Plot:

“Writer director Taika Waititi brings his signature style of humor and pathos to his latest film, Jojo Rabbit, a World War II satire that follows a lonely German boy (Davis as JoJo) whose world view is turned upside down when he discovers his single mother (Johansson) is hiding a young Jewish girl (McKenzie) in their attic. Aided only by his idiotic imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler, Jojo must confront his blind nationalism.”
