‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ Video: Behind the Scenes with the Cast and Director

In support of the upcoming December 7, 2017 official release of the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom trailer, Universal Pictures has unveiled a nearly three-minute behind-the-scenes video from the action film. The sequel to 2015’s Jurassic World is directed by Juan Antonio Bayona (A Monster Calls, The Impossible), and in the video Bayona explained what he was aiming to do with this second Jurassic World film.

“I love playing with suspense. I like intensity and I love to make the audience feel the total experience,” said Bayona. He added, “The challenge of making a sequel is finding the right balance of what people are expecting and what people will be surprised by.”

Bryce Dallas Howard reprises her role of Claire Dearing, an executive at the dinosaur theme park. Howard calls the film intense and spectacular, promising “it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before.” She also admits in the new behind-the-scenes video that even while she knew the dinosaurs weren’t real, the animatronic versions were genuinely scary.

Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) also returns as Owen Grady, dinosaur wrangler and the man responsible for saving hundreds of the park’s guests in the first Jurassic World. Although the official synopsis has not been released, Pratt assures fans of the dinosaur franchise this film will find them “littering blowing up the island.”

The cast of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom also includes James Cromwell (The Young Pope), Ted Levine (The Alienist, Ray Donovan), Justice Smith (The Get Down, The Thundermans), Geraldine Chaplin (A Monster Calls, Beyond the Walls), Daniella Pineda (The Originals, American Odyssey), Toby Jones (The Snowman, Atomic Blonde), and Rafe Spall (Sons of Liberty). BD Wong and Jeff Goldblum return to reprise their roles as Dr. Henry Wu and Ian Malcolm, respectively.

Jurassic World‘s director Colin Trevorrow co-wrote the sequel with Derek Connolly. Trevorrow also executive produces along with Steven Spielberg.

Universal Pictures has set a June 22, 2018 theatrical release for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
