The previously untitled Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks Cold War thriller now has an official title. The DreamWorks Pictures’/Fox 2000 Pictures’ dramatic movie is now known as Bridge of Spies and will open in theaters on October 16, 2015, the time of year when studios start to show off their Oscar hopefuls.

In addition to Hanks, the Bridge of Spies cast includes Mark Rylance, Scott Shepherd, Amy Ryan, Sebastian Koch, and Alan Alda. Thomas Newman will be scoring the film following John Williams’ departure due to health reasons. Spielberg is producing the movie along with Marc Platt and Kristie Macosko Krieger. Adam Somner, Daniel Lupi, Jeff Skoll, and Jonathan King are executive producing.

The Plot:

A dramatic thriller set against the backdrop of a series of historic events, Bridge of Spies tells the story of James Donovan (Hanks), a Brooklyn lawyer who finds himself thrust into the center of the Cold War when the CIA sends him on the near-impossible task to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot. Screenwriters Matt Charman and Ethan Coen & Joel Coen have woven this remarkable experience in Donovan’s life into a story inspired by true events that captures the essence of a man who risked everything and vividly brings his personal journey to life.
