First Look: ‘Spirited’ Teaser Trailer with Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell

Apple Original Films released the first teaser trailer for the holiday musical comedy Spirited starring Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell. The film takes a different approach to the classic A Christmas Carol story, with the teaser introducing Reynolds as its version of Scrooge and Ferrell as the Ghost of Christmas Present who has a problem remembering he’s first “save’s” name.

“Sweet kid. One crutch,” recalls Ferrell as the Ghost before rattling off Little Larry, Micro Mike, and Super Small Steve, much to Reynolds’ annoyance. There’s also a little dancing, some holiday magic, and a brief appearance by the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come.

The cast also includes Octavia Spencer, Sunita Mani, Patrick Page, Joe Tippett, Marlow Barkley, and Jen Tullock. Sean Anders (Daddy’s Home) directed and co-wrote the screenplay with John Morris. La La Land‘s Oscar-winning songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul wrote original tunes for the holiday musical, with Chloe Arnold choreographing.

David Koplan, Maxium Effort Productions’ George Deway, and Two Grown Men’s Sean Anders and John Morris produce, along with Gloria Sanchez’s Will Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum. Benj Pasek, Justin Paul, and Diana Pokorny executive produced.

Apple Original Films’ Spirited opens in theaters on November 11, 2022 followed by a release on Apple TV+ on November 18.

The Plot:

Each Christmas Eve, the Ghost of Christmas Present (Ferrell) selects one dark soul to be reformed by a visit from three spirits. But this season, he picked the wrong Scrooge. Clint Briggs (Reynolds) turns the tables on his ghostly host until Present finds himself reexamining his own past, present, and future. For the first time, A Christmas Carol is told from the perspective of the ghosts in this hilarious musical twist on the classic Dickens tale.
