‘Super Troopers 2’ Red Band Trailer: The Team Heads to Canada

Fox Searchlight just released a new red band (restricted and not safe for work or kids) trailer for Super Troopers 2, the much-anticipated sequel to 2002’s Super Troopers. The sequel finds the troopers unexpectedly having to take over patrolling part of Canada, something they’re incapable of doing without causing international incidents.

Jay Chandrasekhar directs from a script he co-wrote with his fellow Broken Lizard troupe members Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanke. Joining the Broken Lizard team on screen are Lynda Carter, Rob Lowe, Fred Savage, Brian Cox, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Will Sasso, Tyler Labine, and Hayes MacArthur.

Super Troopers 2 is set to open in theaters on April 20, 2018.

The first Super Troopers opened in theaters on February 15, 2002. The R-rated comedy made $6.2 million during its opening weekend in domestic release, going on to gross $18.4 million domestically and $4.6 million in foreign markets before exiting theaters. Audiences enjoyed it but critics were less than enthusiastic about the Broken Lizard production, and it’s currently registering a 35% score on Rotten Tomatoes. (31 critics awarded it a fresh rating while 57 Rotten Tomatoes-approved critics gave it a rotten score.)

The Plot: Everyone’s favorite law enforcement team is back by popular demand with the long anticipated follow up to the cult comedy classic…Super Troopers. When an international border dispute arises between the U.S. and Canada, the Super Troopers – Mac, Thorny, Foster, Rabbit and Farva, are called in to set up a new Highway Patrol station in the disputed area. Unconventional police work follows, and the result is…Super Trooper 2.
