Amazon Studios has unveiled the official trailer for the 2018 remake of writer/director Dario Argento’s 1977 horror classic, Suspiria. The 2018 version was directed by Call Me By Your Name‘s Luca Guadagnino and finds the original film’s Jessica Harper returning for a key role in the remake.
Amazon’s also just released new character posters for the thriller which will arrive in theaters one week earlier than originally announced. Suspiria will now open in New York and Los Angeles on October 26, 2018 followed by a wide release on November 2.
The cast of the 2018 version includes Dakota Johnson (the Fifty Shades film franchise), Tilda Swinton (Doctor Strange, We Need to Talk About Kevin), Mia Goth (A Cure for Wellness), Lutz Ebersdorf, and Chloe Grace Moretz (Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, The 5th Wave). The Terror‘s David Kajganich adapted the screenplay based on characters created by Argento and Daria Nicolodi.
Radiohead’s Thom Yorke composed the score which is featured in the trailer. The behind the scenes team also includes director of photography Sayombhu Mukdeeprom, editor Walter Fasano, production desiger Inbal Weinberg, and costume designer Giulia Piersanti.
Director Guadagnino, writer Kajganich, Brad Fischer, Francesco Melzi d’Erio, Marco Morabito, Gabriele Moratti, William Sherak, and Silvia Venturini Fendi produced the remake. Carlo Antonelli, Lauren Beck, Josh Godfrey, Stella Savino, Kimberly Steward, James Vanderbilt, and Massimiliano Violante served as executive producers.
The 1977 R-rated film from writer/director Dario Argento earned three nominations from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, including a nomination for the film’s 2018 40th Anniversary Edition DVD/Blu-ray Special Release.
The Plot: A darkness swirls at the center of a world-renowned dance company, one that will engulf the troupe’s artistic director (Swinton), an ambitious young dancer (Johnson), and a grieving psychotherapist (Ebersdorf). Some will succumb to the nightmare. Others will finally wake up.
