‘The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part’ Teaser Trailer: Aliens Wreak Havoc on Our LEGO Heroes

A voice-over by Lucy (Elizabeth Banks) opens The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part‘s official teaser trailer. “A lifetime has passed since the horrific events of Taco Tuesday. Our lives descended into chaos. This new life has toughened and hardened us all,” she says as we’re introduced to this new world that looks similar to Mad Max’s.

However, Emmet (Chris Pratt) remains his happy-go-lucky self. He starts the day with coffee and greets cyborgs and sewer babies as he walks through destroyed streets. When Lucy warns him to stop pretending everything is awesome (tell me you don’t automatically sing those three words whenever you read them!), Emmet assures her he has cultivated a hard side. He briefly demonstrates his version of a hard side before being distracted by a shooting star. Unfortunately, it turns out the shooting star’s an alien invader who captures Lucy, and others, forcing Emmet into action once again.

Also reprising their roles from the first film are Will Arnett as LEGO BatmanTM, Nick Offerman as Metal Beard, and Alison Brie as Unikitty. Newcomers to the LEGO franchise include Tiffany Haddish as Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi, Stephanie Beatriz as Sweet Mayhem, and Arturo Castro as Ice Cream Cone.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part was directed by Mike Mitchell (Shrek Ever After, Trolls). Original The LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller produced the sequel along with Dan Lin and Roy Lee.

The sequel is set to open in theaters on Friday, February 8, 2019 in 2D and 3D.

The Plot: The much-anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed, global box office phenomenon that started it all, The LEGO® Movie 2: The Second Part, reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild.

The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.
