‘The Woman in the Yard’ Trailer: Danielle Deadwyler Battles an Unknown Evil

Blumhouse’s trailer for The Woman in the Yard opens with a child’s voice-over. “When the sun is bright and the wind is still, she comes to you like a sudden chill,” says the child, adding, “Draped in black from head to toe, how she got there, you’ll never know.” And apparently, whatever you do, you shouldn’t let this terrifying presence inside your house.

Danielle Deadwyler (Till, The Piano Lesson) leads a cast that includes Russell Hornsby (BMF), Estella Kahiha (Will Trent), Okwui Okpokwasili (The Exorcist: Believer), and Peyton Jackson (Respect).

“From Blumhouse, the most successful global brand in horror, comes a new original chiller starring BAFTA and SAG nominee Danielle Deadwyler as Ramona, a woman crippled by grief after she survives a car accident that takes her husband (Hornsby). Seriously injured, Ramona now must care for their 14-year-old son (Jackson) and 6-year-old daughter (Kahiha) alone in her rural farmhouse. Then one day the woman takes form in their yard,” reads Universal and Blumhouse’s synopsis. “Ramona assumes the woman (Okpokwasili) is lost or demented, but as the woman creeps nearer and nearer to the house, it becomes clear she is no ordinary figure and her intentions are anything but peaceful. Now Ramona must rally to protect herself and her children from the grasp of the woman who simply won’t leave them alone.”

Jaume Collet-Serra (Black Adam, Carry-On) directs from a screenplay by first-time feature screenwriter Sam Stefanak. Jason Blum and Stephanie Allain produce, with Danielle Deadwyler, Jaume Collet-Serra, James Moran, and Gabrielle Ebron executive producing.

The Woman in the Yard opens in theaters on March 28, 2025.
