Tom Hanks wishes upon a star in the new teaser trailer for Disney+’s Pinocchio, not to be confused with Guillermo del Toro’s Netflix project of the same name. The teaser provides a good look at Jiminy Cricket but the titular character is pretty much absent.

Oscar winner Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump, Philadelphia) leads the cast of the live-action adventure as the woodcarver Geppetto. Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Super Pumped) plays Jiminy Cricket, Luke Evans (Nine Perfect Strangers) is The Coachman, two-time Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo (Harriet) is the Blue Fairy, and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (The Haunting of Bly Manor) is Pinocchio. The cast also includes Keegan-Michael Key (Schmigadoon!) as Honest John, Oscar nominee Lorraine Bracco (Goodfellas) as Sofia the Seagull, Kyanne Lamaya as Fabiana, Giuseppe Battiston (Trust) as Señor Stromboli, and Lewin Lloyd (His Dark Materials) as Lampwick.

Pinocchio is targeting a Thursday, September 8, 2022 premiere date. September 8th is celebrated by Disney as “Disney+ Day,” in honor of the day the service launched.

Oscar winner Robert Zemeckis directed and serves as a producer along with Derek Hogue, Andrew Miano, Chris Weitz, and Paul Weitz. Jackie Levine, Jack Rapke, Alexandra Derbyshire, and Jeremy Johns are executive producers.
