Magnolia Finds A Place at the Table

Jeff Bridges in A Place at the Table

A Place at the Table, a documentary about the hunger crisis in the US, has been picked up for US distribution by Magnolia Pictures. Directed by Kristi Jacobson and Lori Silverbush and featuring Jeff Bridges, A Place at the Table premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival (then titled Finding North) and will hit theaters in the US in early 2013.

The film shines a spotlight on the hunger crisis, examining why 30% of all American families (49+ million people) don’t know where their next meal is coming from.

Announcing the acquisition, Magnolia President Eamonn Bowles said, “Beyond being powerful, moving, and a real call to action for change, A Place at the Table is an incredibly well made, cinematic and entertaining film. It’s a great companion film to Food, Inc, and we’re very happy to be working with our friends at Participant again.”

T Bone Burnett and The Civil Wars provide the film’s music.
