Showtime’s ‘Billions’ Renewed for Season Two

Billions Season 2

Showtime broke the news via social media, making an announcement everyone expected: Billions has been renewed for a second season. The series set a new record when it debuted on January 17, 2016, with 6.5 million viewers total over its first week, breaking the record set by Ray Donovan in June 2013. The series has earned rave reviews and combined with the high ratings, the decision to renew Billions was obviously a no-brainer.

Billions stars Golden Globe winner Damian Lewis and Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti. The cast also includes Maggie Siff, Malin Akerman, Toby Leonard Moore, David Costabile, and Condola Rashad. The series was created by Brian Koppelman, David Levien, and Andrew Ross Sorkin, with all three serving as executive producers. Koppelman and Levien are the writers.

The Billions Plot:

Billions is a bold, contemporary drama series that melds the worlds of ultra-wealth, influence and corruption as personified in two highly ambitious opposing figures: hard-charging, blue-blooded, politically connected U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Giamatti) and brilliant, calculating, blue-collar billionaire hedge fund king, Bobby “Axe” Axelrod (Lewis). Set amongst the Machiavellian machinations of New York City power politics and finance, BILLIONS weaves a complex, intricate narrative featuring a high-stakes game of predator-versus-prey.
