Box Office Report: Labor Day Weekend 2015

Box Office Report: Labor Day Weekend 2015

Without any big new releases to fuel the Labor Day weekend, two films already in release prior to September 4, 2015 swept the top spots on the domestic box office chart. TriStar’s War Room climbed from its second place position over its opening weekend to snag first place over its second weekend in theaters. Universal’s Straight Outta Compton continues to do big business, earning an estimated $11.1 million during its fourth weekend in theaters over the four day holiday weekend. And in a surprise move, A Walk in the Woods drew in older audiences and finished above the weekend’s new action-thriller Transporter Refueled.
