Writer/director Eli Roth will be executive producing a remake of his 2003 low-budget horror movie Cabin Fever. The original film was made for around $1.5 million and grossed $8+ million over its opening weekend on its way to earning $30 million at the box office before exiting theaters.
Pelican Point Capital Partners is backing the film, with Roth, Cassian Elwes (Dallas Buyer’s Club), Ike Suri, Jaclyn Ann Suri, Peter Fruchtman and Gerald Fruchtman executive producing. Intruder‘s Travis Zariwny is directing using Roth’s 2003 script.
Filming is currently underway in Oregon with Gage Golightly, Dustin Ingram, Samuel Davis, Matthew Daddario, and Nadine Crocker in starring roles.
“Travis had an amazing vision for my original script, and, as a scary movie fan, I really wanted to see it,” said Roth. “I almost see this like re-staging a play, and I’m excited to see what ideas Travis and the cast bring to it.”
“Given the successes and acclaim of both Cassian and Eli, we are excited to begin our foray into media with such a team. We also feel that Chris and Tim from Armory Films are rising stars themselves,” said Ike Suri. “And let’s not forget, this is a cult classic!”
