The Descendants and Martha Marcy May Marlene lead the list of nominees for the Independent Filmmaker Project’s Gotham Independent Film Awards with four nominations each. Following closely on the heels of The Descendants and Martha Marcy May Marlene are Beginners and Take Shelter with two nominations apiece. The first major awards ceremony of the film season will take place on November 28th at Cipriani Wall Street, honoring independent films worthy of recognition. In all, 24 different films were recognized with nominations.
IFP will also honor Charlize Theron, Gary Oldman, David Cronenberg and Tom Rothman with career tributes during the November 28th awards ceremony.

New this year, IFP is proud present the inaugural euphoria Calvin Klein Spotlight on Women Filmmakers ‘Live the Dream’ grant, a $25,000 cash award for an alumnus of IFP’s Independent Filmmaker Labs. This grant aims to further the careers of emerging women directors by supporting the completion, distribution and audience engagement strategies of their first feature film.
