Jim Carrey’s ‘I’m Dying Up Here’ Gets a Series Order at Showtime

Showtime’s presentation at the Television Critics Association’s winter press event included the news that the network has given I’m Dying Up Here a series order. I’m Dying Up Here comes from executive producer Jim Carrey and stars Melissa Leo (The Fighter), Ari Graynor (For A Good Time Call), Clark Duke (Hot Tub Time Machine), Michael Angarano (The Knick), Andrew Santino (Mixology), RJ Cyler (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl), Erik Griffin (Workaholics) and Stephen Guarino (Happy Endings).


Dave Flebotte (Masters of Sex) is writing the comedy series and executive producing along with Carrey, Michael Aguilar, and Christina Wayne. Episode one was directed by The Night Before helmer Jonathan Levine. Filming on the first season will take place this fall.

The I’m Dying Up Here Plot:

Set in L.A.’s celebrated, infamous stand-up comedy scene of the 1970s, during which the careers of many of the comedy superstars began, the series delves into the inspired and damaged psyches that are required to stand alone in front of an audience and make them laugh.
