NBC’s just given a 10 episode order to the hour-long music-driven unscripted series, That’s My Jam. The series is inspired by the musical games Jimmy Fallon plays with his celebrity guests on The Tonight Show, including the popular “Wheel of Musical Impressions,” “Musical Genre Challenge,” and “History of Rap.”
Fallon, who’s on board as an executive producer, brought the format to Universal Television Alternative Studio, along with The Tonight Show producer Jim Juvoenen and writer Josh Knapp. Jeff Apploff (Beat Shazam, Don’t Forget the Lyrics!) will handle season one showrunner duties. Season one will feature special celebrity guests to be announced at a later date.
“We love playing these games on the show and it’ll be fun to see it taken to the next level,” stated Fallon, commenting on his new project set up at NBC.
The network hasn’t announced when we can expect to see That’s My Jam added to their primetime lineup.
“Jimmy reinvented the late-night genre with his one-of-a-kind celebrity game segments that show our favorite stars at their most clever, creative and relaxed,” said Meredith Ahr, President, Alternative and Reality Group, NBC Entertainment. “We’re thrilled to bring viewers a new set of games and create a weekly party that is just as much fun to watch as it is to play along.”
