FX has officially announced the dramatic seres Mayans M.C. has been picked up for a second season. The Sons of Anarchy sequel/spinoff comes from Kurt Sutter and Elgin James and currently airs on Tuesdays at 10pm ET/PT.
Mayans M.C. has been averaging 8.2 million viewers since its premiere on September 4, 2018, according to the network. The series earned the #1 spot among new cable shows of 2018 with adults 18-54, and it ranks #1 among all Tuesday primetime shows for men ages 18 to 49.
“Mayans M.C. is performing fantastically, proving to be a breakout first season,” stated Nick Grad, Co-President of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. “The series premiered as the highest rated cable series this year and continues to sustain a committed fan base, reflecting the talent and drive of creators Kurt Sutter and Elgin James. We couldn’t be more excited to take this ride to a second season.”
Season two will air in 2019.
“The Mayans M.C. mythology sprung from the womb of Sons of Anarchy, but anyone who has taken the time to watch, knows it has become its own mythical creature,” explained Kurt Sutter.

The cast of season one is led by JD Pardo as Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes and Clayton Cardenas as Angel Reyes. The cast also includes Edward James Olmos, Sarah Bolger, Michael Irby, Carla Baratta, Antonio Jaramillo, Raoul Max Trujillo, Richard Cabral, and Danny Pino. Recurring stars include Emilio Rivera, Frankie Loyal, Joseph Lucero, Vincent Rocco Vargas, Maurice Compte, Gino Vento, Tony Plana and Ada Maris.
The Mayans M.C. Plot:
“Set in a post-Jax Teller world, Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes (Pardo) is fresh out of prison and a prospect in the Mayans M.C. charter on the Cali/Mexi border. Now, EZ must carve out his new identity in a town where he was once the golden boy with the American Dream in his grasp.”
