The dark comedy Ingrid Goes West has been picked up for US distribution by Neon. Ingrid Goes West was directed by first-time feature film director Matt Spicer (co-writer of Disney’s upcoming Rocketeer reboot) and stars Parks and Recreation‘s Aubrey Plaza and Captain America: Civil War‘s Elizabeth Olsen. The cast also includes O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), Wyatt Russell (Everybody Wants Some!!), Billy Magnussen (The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story), and Pom Klementieff (Oldboy).

Neon is a newly created distribution banner formed by Tom Quinn and Tim League. They acquired Ingrid Goes West after what’s described as a “competitive bidding situation” following the comedy’s Sundance Film Festival premiere on January 20, 2017. Aubrey Plaza, Jared Ian Goldman, Tim White, Trevor White, Adam Mirels, and Robert Mirels produced, with Mary Solomon, Rick Rickertsen, and Allan Mandelbaum executive producing Spicer’s directorial debut.

The Plot: Ingrid Goes West follows Ingrid Thorburn (Plaza) a mentally unstable young woman who becomes obsessed with Taylor Sloane (Olsen), a social media “influencer” with a seemingly-perfect life. When Ingrid decides to drop everything, and move to the West Coast to befriend Taylor in real life, her behavior turns unsettling and increasingly dangerous.
