The London Olympic committee has selected the Muse song “Survival” as the main official song for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Muse announced the news on their official website, saying they were excited to be chosen to be involved with this year’s Olympics.

Matt Bellamy wrote the song with the Olympics in mind. “It’s about total conviction and pure determination to win,” explained Bellamy on their website.

“Survival” will play when Olympic athletes enter the stadium “in the lead up to the medal ceremony and also as the theme for all international TV coverage.” Per the group, the song will debut tonight on BBC Radio 1 around 19:30. It will be available on iTunes and in the muse.mu store following the BBC Radio 1 airing.
