Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation has announced the nominees for the 2013 class of inductees, and they’ve also confirmed for the first time ever fans will have a say in who enters the Hall of Fame. Voting is now open to fans, with the top five vote-getters placed onto a “fan’s ballot” that will be counted up along with the ballots of the 600+ artists, historians and members of the music industry who comprise the voting body.

Fans can vote by visiting rockhall.com, hbo.com, CNN.com or rollingstone.com.

All of the nominees had to have released their first single or album at least 25 years ago. And without further ado, here are the 2013 nominees:

The Paul Butterfield Blues Band
Chic
Deep Purple
Heart
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
Albert King
Kraftwerk
The Marvelettes
The Meters
Randy Newman
N.W.A
Procol Harum
Public Enemy
Rush
Donna Summer

Says President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation Joel Peresman of the 2013 crop of potential Hall of Famers: “The definition of ‘rock and roll’ means different things to different people, but as broad as the classifications may be, they all share a common love of the music. This year we again proudly put forth a fantastic array of groups and artists that span the entire genre that is ‘rock and roll’.”

The 28th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE on April 18, 2013 and will be aired later on HBO.
