Writer/directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The Last Man on Earth) are expanding their relationship with Fox with the new comedy series Son of Zorn coming to the network sometime during the 2016/2017 season. Described as a live-action/animation hybrid, the series has Jason Sudeikis on board to provide the voice Zorn. The cast also includes Johnny Pemberton as Zorn’s son, Alan, and Cheryl Hines as Zorn’s ex-wife, Edie. Tim Meadows is also confirmed for a role in the series. Lord and Miller will executive produce Son of Zorn with Seth Cohen, Reed Agnew, and Eli Jorne. Agnew and Jorne wrote the pilot and will be the showrunners, with Eric Appel (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) directing and co-executive producing.

David Madden, President, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company announced the new series, stating, “This is utterly unique – there has literally never been a show like this. And, of course, it is very, very funny. The fantastically talented duo of Phil Lord and Chris Miller are yet again delivering precedent-setting television. Jason Sudeikis makes his animated character sound and feel live-action, and Cheryl, Johnny and Tim have incredible chemistry with him that crosses formats, genres and galaxies.”

Son of Zorn Plot:

Upon arriving home on Earth for the first time in 10 years, ZORN, a fully animated, legendary warrior, finds that reconnecting with his live-action son, ALAN, and ex-wife, EDIE, while suffering through a mundane office job and the banality of suburban life, is harder than waging actual war in his distant, mystical homeland of Zephyria.
