The CW’s The Flash has revealed super-villain Cicada will be taking on #TeamFlash in season five. The announcement was made at the 2018 San Diego Comic Con where cast members Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanagh, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Nicolet, Hartley Sawyer, and Jessica Parker Kennedy participated in a packed panel with the series’ fans.

Chris Klein, best known for starring as Oz in the American Pie film franchise, will take on the role of Cicada. According to the official announcement, Klein has signed on in a series regular role. Cicada is described as a grizzled, blue-collar everyman whose family has been torn apart by metahumans. He now seeks to exterminate the epidemic — one metahuman at a time.

Klein’s additional film credits include Caught in the Crossfire, The Six Wives of Henry Lefay, The Good Life, Just Friends, The United States of Leland, We Were Soldiers, Here On Earth, Election, and Say It Isn’t So.

The Flash will kick off its fifth season on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 8pm ET/PT. The series is based on DC characters and is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Todd Helbing, Sarah Schechter and Eric Wallace. The Flash is produced by Bonanza Productions in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

Details on Season 5, Courtesy of The CW: “After outthinking The Thinker, you’d hope that Barry Allen aka The Flash (Grant Gustin) might have some down time to contemplate his future with his new wife, Iris (Candice Patton). But with their speedster daughter from the future, Nora (new series regular Jessica Parker Kennedy), already grown and a part of their lives, they’ve now got to face Central City’s newest menace — the DC Super-Villain Cicada! Season five pits Team Flash against yet another formidable adversary, the show’s second non-speedster Big Bad.”
