Discovery’s Klondike Adds Tim Roth and Abbie Cornish

Gold Diggers Striking It Rich in the KlondikeOscar nominee Tim Roth (Rob Roy) and Abbie Cornish (The Girl) have signed up for Discovery Channel’s Klondike, the network’s first scripted mini-series. Roth is confirmed to play The Count while Cornish is set for the lead female character, Belinda.
 
Klondike is based on the book Gold Diggers: Striking It Rich in the Klondike by Charlotte Gray and will be directed by Simon Cellan Jones. Paul Scheuring (Prison Break) is the primary writer. Scheuring, Ridley Scott, David W Zucker, John Morayniss, Michael Rosenberg, Eileen O’Neill, and Dolores Gavin are executive producing.
 
Filming is expected to begin this month in Canada.
 
The Plot:
 
Klondike follows the lives of two childhood best friends, Bill and Epstein, in the late 1890s as they undertake the next, gold rush capital in the untamed Yukon Territory. This man-versus-nature tale places our heroes in a land full of undiscovered wealth, but ravaged by harsh conditions, unpredictable weather and desperate, dangerous characters including greedy businessmen, seductive courtesans and native tribes witnessing the destruction of their people and land by opportunistic entrepreneurs.
