The Weinstein Company’s bringing cast members from the 2014 action thriller/romance/vampire film Vampire Academy to the New York Comic Con to chat up the first film of a possible franchise. TWC announced Zoey Deutch (Rose), Lucy Fry (Lissa), Sami Gayle (Mia), and Dominic Sherwood (Christian) will be on hand for the Vampire Academy panel on Friday, October 11th at 11am in Room 1A06.
In addition to a Q&A with fans, exclusive new footage from the film will be screened for those lucky enough to make it to the NY Con.
Vampire Academy marks The Weinstein Company’s first foray into movies based on popular young adult book series. TWC has set a February 14, 2014 theatrical release date hoping Vampire Academy turns out to be the perfect Valentine’s Day date movie.
The Plot:
Vampire Academy tells the legend of Rose Hathaway and Lissa Dragomir, two 17-year-old girls who attend a hidden boarding school for Moroi (mortal, peaceful Vampires) and Dhampirs (half-vampire/half-human guardians). Rose, a rebellious Guardian-in-training and her best friend, Lissa – a royal vampire Princess – have been on the run when they are captured and returned to St. Vladamirs Academy, the very place where they believe their lives may be in most jeopardy. Thrust back into the perils of Moroi Society and high school, Lissa struggles to reclaim her status while Rose trains with her mentor and love-interest, Dimitri (Danila Kozlovsky), to guarantee her place as Lissa’s guardian. Rose will sacrifice everything to protect Lissa from those who intend to exploit her from within the Academy walls and the Strigoi (immortal, evil vampires) who hunt her kind from outside its sanctuary.
