Will Ferrell, Funny or Die, and HBO are teaming up on a new special in which Ferrell will be traveling to five spring training ballparks in Arizona in one day, participating in five games, playing 10 positions – and it’s all for charity. Ferrell, MLB, HBO, and Funny or Die are putting together the special in support of the fight against cancer and in honor of Bert “Campy” Campaneris who will join Ferrell in Arizona as he attempts to play in five games in a single day. Back in 1965, Campaneris played all nine positions in a single game for the Kansas City Athletics.

The HBO special is a fundraiser for charities including Cancer for College, a non-profit dedicated to helping people affected by cancer attend college. Memorabilia from Ferrell’s full day of baseball will be auctioned off at MLB.com to raise funds for Cancer for College and Stand Up To Cancer.

Commenting on the event, Baseball Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr. stated, “Spring training affords an appropriate setting where our game can serve as the backdrop for an event that will benefit organizations that fight cancer. Will is a big fan of our game, and many of us in baseball – among our clubs, players and our millions of fans – are big fans of his. Major League Baseball is happy to take part in what will surely be a fun and memorable day for a great cause.”

Ferrell’s schedule for March 12th:
12:05 p.m. Seattle Mariners at Oakland Athletics (HoHoKam Stadium)
1:10 p.m. Chicago Cubs at Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (Tempe Diablo Stadium)
2:10 p.m. Cincinnati Reds at Arizona Diamondbacks (Salt River Fields at Talking Stick)
4:05 p.m. San Francisco Giants at Chicago White Sox (Camelback Ranch)
6:15 p.m. Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres (Peoria Stadium)
