‘The Originals’ Season 5 Episode 3 Preview and Photos: “Ne Me Quitte Pas”

The CW’s The Originals star Joseph Morgan returned to the director’s chair for season five episode three. The episode titled “Ne Me Quitte Pas” is set to air on May 2, 2018 and was written by K.C. Perry and Michelle Paradise.

Joseph Morgan previously directed season three episode 17 (“Behind the Black Horizon”) and season four episode four (“Keepers of the House”).

The fifth and final season of The Originals stars Joseph Morgan as Klaus, Daniel Gillies as Elijah, Yusuf Gatewood as Vincent, Steven Krueger as Josh, Charles Michael Davis as Marcel, Riley Voelkel as Freya, Phoebe Tonkin as Hayley, Danielle Rose Russell as Hope, Nathaniel Buzolic as Kol, Candice King as Caroline, and Claire Holt as Rebekah.

The “Ne Me Quitte Pas” Plot: WHO IS ELIJAH MIKAELSON? — In the immediate aftermath of having his memory erased by Marcel (Davis), Elijah (Gillies) awakens to find himself in the middle of nowhere and without a clue as to who he is. Unable to control his instinctive vampire ways, Elijah encounters Antoinette (guest star Jaime Murray), a beautiful and free-spirited vampire, who helps him navigate his new life. However, a run-in with Klaus (Morgan) threatens to destroy the peace he’s finally found.

The Season 5 Plot: The final season of The Originals begins seven years after the core members of the Mikaelson family – Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah and Kol — each absorb a quarter of the Hollow’s dark energy and flee New Orleans in order to keep both their beloved city and young Hope (guest star Summer Fontana) safe. In the interim, Vincent and Josh preside over a Big Easy almost devoid of conflict, while Hayley and Freya watch Hope grow into a teenager, eventually opting to send her to the Salvatore School so that Caroline can keep an eye on her.

With Marcel following Rebekah out of town and Elijah stripped of his memory, the danger seems to be contained… until a sudden tragedy forces the siblings to return home. As the Mickaelsons return to New Orleans, bringing the pieces of a centuries old evil with them, it becomes clear that the closing chapter of this family saga will be as bloody and emotional as ever.

‘Colony’ Season 3: Sarah Wayne Callies Interview on Katie’s Journey

Season three of USA Network’s critically acclaimed sci-fi series Colony returns to kick off season three on May 2, 2018. The third season is set six months after the Bowman family’s escape from the Los Angeles bloc. The new season will find Katie (Sarah Wayne Callies) and Will (Josh Holloway) attempting to establish a new life for their family outside the walls. The season three description also teases the reveal of the horrifying truth behind the invasion.

Following the conclusion of season two, series star Sarah Wayne Callies discussed her character’s relationships with Will and Broussard (played by Tory Kittles). Sitting down for roundtables interviews at Comic Con, Sarah Wayne Callies explained what’s motivating Katie Bowman moving forward and the importance of Katie’s participation in the resistance.

Sarah Wayne Callies Colony Season 3 Interview:

Now that her family has been reunited, what’s driving her actions at this point?

Sarah Wayne Callies: “Well, I think there are two immediate answers to that. One is that she made a promise to Broussard to take this gauntlet and find the resistance outside the walls and give them this piece of their tool to mount an effective resistance which, quite frankly, hasn’t been done. So that’s important and you’re looking for a needle in a haystack because all you know is somewhere out there in the environs of what looks like Vancouver is a group of people.

I think that the other thing that’s driving her is that she realized, the way a lot of us do with total horror, that her kid is just like her. And so you look at the mistakes that you made in the past, specifically the mistakes that Katie made throwing her whole heart into the resistance, maybe not necessarily following the right general into war. And I think she desperately wants to keep Bram from some of those mistakes. Whether or not Bram has any interest in this thing is another question.”

What about Will and Katie’s journey from last season?

Sarah Wayne Callies: “It’s interesting because I think the occupation is the worst thing that ever happened to their marriage in that without it she would have never have joined the resistance. But the flip side of that is given those circumstances, they never had the luxury of breaking up. And so they had to make it work and I think in the process of making it work for the family, and of protecting their kids, that built a bridge between the two of them again of respect. I think, quite frankly, fighting along side each other…Will’s never seen Katie carry a gun and defend herself, and she’s never seen him doing his work as an Army Ranger. And so I think there’s kind of like, ‘Well, sh*t, we’re kind of good at this together!’ There’s common ground.”

Where would be Katie be without the resistance? Would she be at home?

Sarah Wayne Callies: “No, Katie would never be a homemaker. But I think under the circumstances of the occupation she wouldn’t be just a bartender, either. I think this is a woman who has to act. I think without the resistance she would be catastrophically depressed and maybe acting out in her own small way. There’s some people who just can’t take it. Granted, it’s a bad idea – you really ought to shut up but you’ve got to say this thing. I think Katie’s one of those people. Thank God.”

She had a nice moment with Broussard at the end of season two. There weren’t any words but you could tell it was a heartfelt goodbye.

Sarah Wayne Callies: “They’ve got an interesting relationship and it’s the kind that you don’t often see between men and women which is to say you have kind of a battle brotherhood forged between the two of them. I just finished doing The Long Road Home which is about the Iraq war for Nat Geo and we met a lot of guys who were in battle together. There’s an intimacy that’s formed, I think, in circumstances that intense that, again, is not something that traditionally men and women share. Although I imagine that’s changing now with so many women in the military. But, I’ve never had a relationship like that that I’ve gotten to play like with Katie and Broussard.

I think there’s almost a sibling sense of…I mean, look, Broussard stood by her when her own sister wouldn’t. And she forgave him for taking her out to kill her, you know? There’s a lot of water under that bridge and a lot of love there, and a lot of respect. If you’ve got to go off and go with your family, you go. If you’ve got to go fight for LA, stay.”

‘Riverdale’ Season 2 Episode 20 Preview and Photos: “Shadow of a Doubt”

The CW’s Riverdale season two episode 19 began with Cheryl singing at Midge’s funeral and declaring the Vixens will not stop looking for the person who killed their friend. The episode also found poor Archie being beaten and held hostage by Nick St. Clair. Nick demanded Veronica and the Lodges hand over a cool million dollars…or else. Unfortunately for Archie, Hiram refused to make a deal or part with that much money. Fortunately, Veronica came to the rescue and actually turned the tables on the abusive Nick, forcing his family into parting with a million to guarantee his safety.

Meanwhile, Jughead and Betty visited the Sisters of the Quiet Mercy and discovered Chic is not Betty’s brother! The nun showed them a photo of Betty’s brother and the photo was definitely not of Chic. A confrontation with Betty’s imposter brother led to Chic being tied up in the basement. He finally admitted he met the real Charles and they were friends. One day Charles tried to reunite with his mom but Alice apparently slammed the door in his face. He was so despondent about being sent away that he overdosed on Jingle Jangle.

Alice remembered the boy and blamed herself for Charles’ death. She immediately headed off to FP’s place and confessed she killed their son! FP made Jughead leave the Cooper place so Betty and Alice ccould figure out how they wanted to handle Chic. And boy did Betty come up with a plan… She decided to let the Black Hood – yes, Archie was right and the Black Hood is alive and well – take care of Chic.

Up next, season two episode 20 titled “Shadow of a Doubt” airing on May 2, 2018. The episode was directed by Gregory Smith from a script by Yolonda E. Lawrence.

The season two cast includes KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Marisol Nichols as Hermione Lodge, Mӓdchen Amick as Alice Cooper, Luke Perry as Fred Andrews, Casey Cott as Kevin Keller, Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy, Mark Consuelos as Hiram Lodge, and Skeet Ulrich as FP Jones.

The “Chapter Thirty-Three: Shadow of a Doubt” Plot: DEBATE NIGHT — As the town’s mayoral race between Fred (Perry) and Hermoine (Nichols) heats up, Hiram (Consuelos) sets his sights on a new ally – Sheriff Minetta (guest star Henderson Wade). Betty (Reinhart) turns to Cheryl (Petsch) for help when she has a suspicion about the Black Hood. Meanwhile, the reveal of a dark secret forces Archie (Apa) and Jughead (Sprouse) to try and ease tensions between the Bulldogs and Serpents. Finally, on the eve of the mayoral debate, a mysterious message leaves everyone on edge.

‘Whitney’ Teaser Trailer: Delving Into the Life and Career of Whitney Houston

Roadside Attractions and Miramax have released the official teaser trailer for the documentary, Whitney. The one minute and 40 second trailer showcases the incredible amount of access filmmaker Kevin Macdonald (Oscar winner for the 1999 documentary One Day in September) was given as he explored the life and career of one of the greatest singers of our time, Whitney Houston.

Whitney features interviews with those closest to the record-setting artist including her family members. The documentary was produced by Simon Chinn, Jonathan Chinn, and Lisa Erspamer, with Nicole David, Pat Houston, Will Clarke, Andy Mayson, Mike Runagall, Zanne Devine, Rosanne Korenberg and Joe Patrick executive producing.

“When you work with an estate, you need them to be on your side. I felt very lucky to have the support of Pat Houston and the Whitney Houston estate in this quest. They entrusted me with the ‘keys to the vault’ while giving me complete freedom to follow the story wherever it went,” stated director Macdonald. “Whitney is the opposite of what you’d expect an authorized film to be. I wouldn’t make a film where you praise the subject to the skies. I needed to pursue what I thought was interesting psychologically.”

The film will make its world premiere during the 2018 Cannes Film Festival on May 16, 2018. Miramax and Roadside Attractions are targeting a July 6, 2018 theatrical release.

Details on Whitney: Whitney Houston broke more music industry records than any other female singer in history. With over 200 million album sales worldwide, she was the only artist to chart seven consecutive U.S. No. 1 singles. She also starred in several blockbuster movies before her brilliant career gave way to erratic behavior, scandals and death at age 48.

The documentary feature Whitney is an intimate, unflinching portrait of Houston and her family that probes beyond familiar tabloid headlines and sheds new light on the spellbinding trajectory of Houston’s life. Using never-before-seen archival footage, exclusive demo recordings, rare performances, audio archives and original interviews with the people who knew her best, Oscar®-winning filmmaker Kevin Macdonald unravels the mystery behind “The Voice,” who thrilled millions even as she struggled to make peace with her own troubled past.

Mystery Writers of America Reveal the 2018 Edgar Allan Poe Awards Winners

Edgar Allan Poe Awards Winners

The Mystery Writers of America have announced the winners of the 2018 Edgar Allan Poe Awards, with Bluebird, Bluebird by Attica Locke taking the top prize as Best Novel. The critically acclaimed novel is the first in a trilogy of books that will feature the lead character, Texas Ranger Darren Matthews. The book series has already been snatched up by FX to be adapted into a dramatic series which Locke will executive produce.

The Bluebird, Bluebird synopsis: “When it comes to law and order, East Texas plays by its own rules – a fact that Darren Mathews, a black Texas Ranger, knows all too well. Deeply ambivalent about growing up black in the lone star state, he was the first in his family to get as far away from Texas as he could. Until duty called him home. But when his allegiance to his roots puts his job in jeopardy, he travels up Highway 59 to the small town of Lark, where two murders—a black lawyer from Chicago and a local white woman—have stirred up a hornet’s nest of resentment. Darren must solve the crimes – and save himself in the process – before Lark’s long-simmering racial fault lines erupt. A rural noir suffused with the unique music, color, and nuance of East Texas, Bluebird, Bluebird, is an exhilarating, timely novel about the collision of race and justice in America.”

The Guardian calls Bluebird, Bluebird “a true original in the way it twists these conventions into a narrative of exhilarating immediacy.” USA Today says Locke’s novel is “an emotionally dense and intricately detailed thriller, roiling with conflicting emotions steeped in this nation’s troubled past and present.”

‘Shadowhunters’ Season 3 Episode 7 Preview and Photos: “Salt in the Wound”

Freeform’s Shadowhunters season three episode six was jam-packed with key moments, including Clary finally discovering Jace is The Owl after he spent the episode acting all distant. Simon learned he sired Heidi, a development which quickly escalated into Heidi being sure she and Simon are meant to be together – no matter who she has to kill to make it happen. Fortunately, Izzy put an end to Heidi’s stalker-ish ways by turning her over to Praetor Lupus to be rehabilitated.

Meanwhile, Alec and Magnus’ relationship hit a rough patch after Alec found Magnus’ box full of items from his previous relationship. Alec’s having a difficult time coming to terms with the fact that because Magnus is immortal he has loved – and will continue to fall in love with – a series of men. There will come a time when something that reminds Magnus of Alec will make its way into his box of keepsakes. Episode six strongly hinted that Alec is so conflicted (and jealous) that he might wind up cheating on Magnus with Underhill (Steve Byers).

Up next, season three episode seven titled “Salt in the Wound” set to air on May 1, 2018. Episode seven’s guest stars include Anna Hopkins as Lilith and Chai Hansen as Jordan Kyle.

The season three cast includes Katherine McNamara as Clary Fray, Dominic Sherwood as Jace Wayland, Alberto Rosende as Simon Lewis, Emeraude Toubia as Isabelle Lightwood, Matthew Daddario as Alec Lightwood, Isaiah Mustafa as Luke Garroway, and Harry Shum Jr. as Magnus Bane. Season three guest stars include Alisha Wainwright as Maia Roberts and David Castro as Raphael Santiago. The series is executive produced by Todd Slavkin, Darren Swimmer, McG, Matt Hastings, Mary Viola, Martin Moszkowicz and Robert Kulzer.

The “Salt in the Wound” Plot: With the Owl’s identity revealed, Alec, Isabelle, and Clary head to Alicante to try and find a way to stop him. Luke and Simon team up to track Lilith’s latest possible victim. Maia reflects on her past.

Guillermo del Toro’s added Orphan Black‘s Tatiana Maslany, Rogue One‘s Diego Luna, and Into the Wild‘s Emile Hirsch to the cast of Dreamworks Trollhunters Part 3. Maslany and Luna will be lending their voices to the characters of Aja and Krel in the third – and final season of the animated series. According to the Netflix announcement, Hirsch will be taking over the role of Jim Lake Jr, originally voiced by Anton Yelchin.

The returning voice cast includes Kelsey Grammer (Blinky), Mark Hamill (Dictatious), Lena Headey (Morgana), David Bradley (Merlin), Ron Perlman (Bular), Steven Yeun (Steve), Anjelica Huston (Queen Ursurna), Jonathan Hyde (Strickler), Amy Landecker (Barbara), Charlie Saxton (Toby), Lexi Medrano (Claire) and Fred Tatasciore (AAARRRGGHH!!!).

Tatiana Maslany and Diego Luna’s characters Aja and Krel are described as “mysterious new students who unknowingly come to the aid of the Trollhunters team in the fight against Morgana.” Netflix also announced Maslany and Luna will reprise their roles as the lead characters in the Tales of Arcadia trilogy, DreamWorks 3 Below. That installment in the trilogy will premiere later this year.

Hirsch’s voice work as Jim Lake Jr will be combined with Yelchin’s performance. The official casting announcement offered the following explanation for how the change in actors will work for the upcoming third season of the series: “Yelchin completed his work on seasons one and two and a considerable portion of season three before his untimely passing. Del Toro and his creative team found a unique way to incorporate a voice transition organic to the story and create a path for a dear friend of Yelchin’s to carry on his legacy and role. Yelchin’s performance has been left intact where possible and some portions have been merged with Hirsch’s performance to complete season three.”

DreamWorks Trollhunters was created by Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water). Guillermo del Toro serves as an executive producer along with Marc Guggenheim, Rodrigo Blaas, Chad Hammes, and Christina Steinberg.

Dreamworks Trollhunters Part 3 will premiere on Netflix on May 25, 2018.

The Plot: DreamWorks Trollhunters features a tale of two fantastical worlds that collide in an epic saga. Set in the fictional suburb of Arcadia, our unlikely hero, Jim, and his two best friends make a startling discovery that beneath their hometown lies a hidden battle between good trolls and bad, the outcome of which impacts their lives forever.

In DreamWorks Trollhunters Part 3 the fate of troll and human civilizations hang in the balance. The Trollhunters are racing to stop Gunmar and the now resurrected Morgana from bringing about the Eternal Night and shrouding the world in darkness forever. To defeat them, the team must seek the help of the legendary wizard Merlin to unlock his ancient magic and unleash a powerful weapon that will alter the course of their lives forever.

More on the Tales of Arcadia Trilogy: On the surface, Arcadia appears to be a slice of timeless Americana, but it is no ordinary town. It lies at the center of magical and mystical lines that will make it a nexus for many battles among otherworldly creatures including trolls, aliens and wizards. DreamWorks Trollhunters, the first installment in the Tales of Arcadia trilogy, will be followed by two additional series 3 Below in 2018 and a final chapter Wizards set to debut in 2019.

Following Trollhunters, DreamWorks 3 Below will focus on two royal teenage aliens and their bodyguard who flee a surprise takeover of their home planet by an evil dictator and crash land in Arcadia. Now on the run from intergalactic bounty hunters, they struggle to blend in and adapt to the bizarre world of high school all the while attempting to repair their ship so they can return and defend their home planet.

DreamWorks Wizards brings together the three disparate worlds of trolls, aliens and wizards who have found themselves drawn to Arcadia. The final chapter of the Tales of Arcadia culminates in an apocalyptic battle for the control of magic that will ultimately determine the fate of these supernatural worlds that have now converged.

‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ – New Photos of Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury

Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek
Rami Malek as rock icon Freddie Mercury in Twentieth Century Fox/New Regency film’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.’

20th Century Fox has released new official photos from Bohemian Rhapsody starring Mr. Robot‘s Rami Malek. The film was among the batch of upcoming theatrical releases Fox was promoting at the 2018 CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Bryan Singer began production as the movie’s director but reportedly clashed with Malek on the set and eventually stopped showing up for work. Dexter Fletcher (Eddie the Eagle) took over and finished directing the project which delves into the world of Freddie Mercury and Queen, and apparently has the approval of Queen’s lead guitarist, Brian May.

“I’m thrilled with the way our Freddie film is shaping up. Much more than a documentary of someone’s life, it’s a piece of pure art, chiselled out of solid rock. It speaks of families and relationships and hopes and dreams, and heartache and disappointment, and ultimately of victory and fulfilment, in a way that everyone can connect to. It hasn’t been an easy journey – but all the most worthwhile journeys are like that! Rami and Lucy and the boys give monumental performances – more than worthy of the originals!!” – Brian May, per Fox.

In addition to Rami Malek, the cast includes Joseph Mazzello, Gwilym Lee, Aidan Gillen, Lucy Boynton, Ben Hardy, and Tom Hollander. Bohemian Rhapsody is set to open in theaters on November 2, 2018.

The film’s producer Graham King stated, “This film has been 8 years in the making but I truly believe that it’s been worth it, because I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished. The movie is a true celebration of Queen’s music and a tribute to one of the greatest frontmen of all time: Freddie Mercury. Breaking through stereotypes and expectations, Freddie dared to change everything – believing in himself and his music.

He and the band reached unparalleled success and Freddie became one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet, cementing a legacy that continues to this very day. Their music is played in sports arenas, countless films and commercials, and is heard reverberating around nearly every local bar and pub around the world. They inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers. And behind the music was a man who simply connected with people in a way only a handful of performers have ever done.

I’ve been lucky enough in my career to work with some of the greatest actors – Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Day-Lewis, just to name a few. But the performance of Rami as Freddie rates up there with some of the best I’ve ever seen.”

About Bohemian Rhapsody, Courtesy of Fox:Bohemian Rhapsody is the story of how Freddie Mercury and his fellow band members Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon formed Queen – one of the most iconic rock groups of all time. The film follows Queen as they produce hit after hit, topping the charts while constantly evolving their sound. Through disparate songs like ‘Killer Queen,’ ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ ‘We Are the Champions,’ ‘We Will Rock You’ and countless others, the band reaches unparalleled success and Freddie becomes one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet.

Behind that veil of success, however, Freddie struggles to reconcile his duality. Forever trying to determine where he fits in the world as a Parsi immigrant from Zanzibar coming to terms with a sexuality even he can’t define in a culture bound by stereotypes and expectations. Freddie dares to defy them all but also pays a price. Lured into excess and surrounded by darker influences, Freddie shuns Queen in pursuit of his solo career. What becomes an attempt to redefine himself as a solo artist, ends in disappointment and further isolation.

Having suffered greatly without the collaboration of Brian, Roger and John – his rock’n’roll family – Freddie comes to terms with the realization that the magic of Queen and their success lies in all of them working together, challenging one another. Freddie manages to reunite with his bandmates just in time for Live Aid – the biggest concert in history. But fate and past behaviors throw a devastating obstacle at him, one that forces him to confront then accept his own mortality. Pulling himself up from personal strife one more time to overcome the odds, the band puts on one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. Queen cements a legacy that continues to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day. On Freddie’s terms, not the rest of the world’s.”
