At the time, the Post’s Katherine Graham (Meryl Streep) was still finding her footing as the country’s first female newspaper publisher, and Ben Bradlee (Tom Hanks), the paper’s volatile, driven editor, was trying to enhance the stature of the struggling, local paper. Together, the two formed an unlikely team, as they were forced to come together and make the bold decision to support The New York Times and fight the Nixon Administration’s unprecedented attempt to restrict the first amendment.

‘Coco’ Unveils Voice Talent and Character Descriptions

Coco Movie Poster

Disney·Pixar’s upcoming animated film Coco from directors Lee Unkrich (Toy Story 3) and Adrian Molina will feature an all Latino voice cast. Pixar’s released details on the colorful characters who make up the family-friendly film as well as the list of actors who are lending their voices to bringing the roles to life on the screen. Set to open on November 22, 2017, Coco‘s described as a “multi-generational story about the power of family relationships, features characters from the Land of the Living, and their loved ones who’ve moved on to the Land of the Dead.”

“These parallel worlds couldn’t be more different,” explained Unkrich. “One is the Rivera family’s charming and hardworking hometown of Santa Cecilia, and the other is the vibrant, rich land where loved ones go when they’ve passed. ‘Coco’ introduces characters from both worlds on the eve of Día de los Muertos—one extraordinary night when a living boy named Miguel gets a glimpse of the other side.”

“Our voice cast is incredibly talented, helping to shape our eclectic group of characters,” said co-director Molina who’s making his directorial debut with the 2017 animated film. “Each actor has told us they find something relatable in this film, so they’re finding it easy to capture the heart of this story—it’s all about family, so we hope that these characters will resonate with everyone.”

Coco‘s Characters from the Land of the Living:

• ANTHONY GONZALEZ (The Last Ship) lends his voice to MIGUEL, a 12-year-old aspiring musician who struggles against his family’s generations-old ban on music. When a magical mishap lands him in the Land of the Dead, Miguel seeks out his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz, to help him return to the Land of the Living before it’s too late.

• ANA OFELIA MURGUÍA (Mozart in the Jungle) voices Miguel’s cherished great-grandmother MAMÁ COCO. She is very old and fragile, but that doesn’t stop Miguel from sharing his daily adventures with her.

• RENÉE VICTOR (Weeds) provides the authoritative voice of ABUELITA, Miguel’s grandmother and the ultimate enforcer of the Rivera family’s ban on music. She loves her family very much and will do anything to protect them. But when she gets angry, she wields a mean slipper.

• JAIME CAMIL (Jane the Virgin) is the voice of PAPÁ, Miguel’s supportive father who hopes that someday Miguel will join him in the family shoemaking business.

• SOFÍA ESPINOSA (Gloria) provides the voice of Miguel’s loving MAMÁ who gently encourages her son to embrace their family’s traditions.

• LUIS VALDEZ (Which Way Is Up) is the voice of TÍO BERTO, Miguel’s uncle, a hard worker in the Rivera family shoemaking business.

• LOMBARDO BOYAR (Murder in the First) lends his voice to a friendly MARIACHI who Miguel encounters in Santa Cecilia Plaza.

Characters from the Land of the Dead:

GAEL GARCÍA BERNAL (Mozart in the Jungle) helps bring to life HECTOR, a charming trickster in the Land of the Dead who is forced to enlist help from Miguel to visit the Land of the Living.

BENJAMIN BRATT (Star) is the voice of Miguel’s idol ERNESTO DE LA CRUZ, the most famous musician in the history of Mexico. Revered by fans worldwide until his untimely death, the charming and charismatic musician is even more beloved in the Land of the Dead.

• EDWARD JAMES OLMOS (Blade Runner) lends his voice to CHICHARRÓN, a curmudgeonly friend of Hector’s who is sadly being forgotten—an unfortunate condition in the Land of the Dead.

• ALANNA UBACH (Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce) provides the voice of MAMÁ IMELDA, Miguel’s great-great-grandmother, the matriarch of the Rivera family and the founder of their successful shoemaking business. Miguel meets Mamá Imelda in the Land of the Dead and discovers she does not share his passion for music.

• SELENE LUNA (Celebrity Wife Swap) voices TÍA ROSITA, Miguel’s late aunt who resides in the Land of the Dead.

• ALFONSO ARAU (Three Amigos) is the voice of PAPÁ JULIO, Miguel’s late great-grandfather who he meets in Land of the Dead.

• HERBERT SIGUENZA (Ben 10: Alien Swarm) lends his voice to both TÍO OSCAR and TÍO FELIPE, Miguel’s late identical twin uncles who he meets in the Land of the Dead.

• OCTAVIO SOLIS is the voice of an ARRIVAL AGENT in the Land of the Dead’s Grand Central Station.

• GABRIEL IGLESIAS (Planes) provides the voice of the HEAD CLERK in the Land of the Dead’s “Department of Family Reunions.”

• CHEECH MARIN (Cars 3) is the voice of a CORRECTIONS OFFICER in the Land of the Dead.

• BLANCA ARACELI (The Bridge) voices the EMCEE for a colorful talent show in the Land of the Dead.

The Plot: Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself magically transported to the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.

‘Gotham’ Season 3 Finale Part 2 Recap: Heavydirtysoul, Episode 22

Gotham Season 3 Finale

Fox’s Gotham season three comes to an end with major, game-changing events playing out. The second half of the season three finale (episode 22) begins as blood runs from Alfred’s mouth and his chest while Bruce (David Mazouz) pulls out the sword. Alfred (Sean Pertwee) collapses on his back while Bruce looks devastated. He asks Ra’s al Ghul (Alexander Siddig) to help him as Alfred appears to die. Bruce, mortified and in anguish, strikes out with the sword but misses Ra’s al Ghul. Ra’s laughs as he says Bruce has broken through his conditioning while Bruce screams that they don’t control him anymore.

Bruce swears he won’t be Ra’s al Ghul’s heir and Ra’s corrects him, saying, “Your strength only confirms what the prophecy has foretold. An heir to serve as my knight in the darkness.” Bruce yells that he’ll never follow Ra’s, and Ra’s tells him to use the waters, warning him that their time will come.

Bruce scoops water from the Lazarus Pit into a bowl and pours it onto Alfred’s wound. Alfred chokes and comes back to life.

Elsewhere in the city, the virus is spreading. Jim (Ben McKenzie) is at the station and he’s still somehow managing to keep the infection under control. Lee (Morena Baccarin) gives him a call and tells him she’s leaving Gotham, but he warns her there are checkpoints all over the city. She wants them to leave together, saying they deserve it. She’s leaving on the afternoon train and wants the “real” Jim with her, so he has to stop fighting the virus. He agrees and hangs up.

Harvey (Donal Logue) rushes up with a list of demands from Barbara and Nygma. If they don’t comply, they’ll kill Tetch. Their demands will bankrupt the city, but Harvey points out there won’t be a city left if they don’t comply. Jim, however, realizes the only thing Ed wants is Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), and Penguin’s currently locked up just a few dozen feet from where Jim and Harvey are chatting. Jim wants to turn Oswald over to Nygma and he grabs Harvey’s shirt, telling him he needs to save Lee. He quickly lets go but admits he doesn’t have much time until the virus takes over completely.

Tabitha (Jessica Lucas), Butch (Drew Powell), Barbara (Erin Richards), and Ed (Cory Michael Smith) are waiting for the GCPD’s response when Jim phones Nygma. Jim doesn’t want the others to know what he’s saying, while at the same time Butch is quietly continuing to convince Tabitha they need to kill Barbara and Ed. Tabitha wants to hold off until the city pays for Tetch, but Butch is adamant they act soon. He’s convinced Barbara doesn’t deserve Tabitha’s loyalty.

Barbara arrives just then and they notice Ed is missing and so is Tetch. Barbara blames Tabitha and Butch, calling them idiots who can’t handle one simple job.

Jim and Harvey remove a handcuffed Oswald from the station and he begs them not to hand him over to Nygma. Harvey still doesn’t think this is a good idea, picturing all the things that could possibly go wrong. Oswald asks to have the handcuffs removed but Jim won’t remove them. However, Harvey finally agrees mainly so that Oswald will stop talking.

Jim and Harvey walk Oswald into the building and are ready to deliver him to Ed. Ed has Tetch with a grenade strapped to his chest and the exchange is about to go down when Barbara, Butch, Tabitha, and a couple of goons arrive to break up the party. Barbara demands Tetch, but instead of handing him over Ed snags the grenade and tosses it toward Barbara. A gunfight breaks out as Nygma chases after Oswald while everyone else worries about who has Tetch. Jim and Harvey grab him and run from the building, watching as Oswald drives away in their squad car.

Meanwhile, Alfred’s brought into the hospital in bad shape (but no longer dead). The doctors promise Bruce they’ll do what they can.

Barbara and her gang chase after Jim, Harvey, and Tetch, with Jim using his super-strength to break a metal chain into a warehouse. Barbara and her people pursue them, with Tetch taunting Jim that if he gives in once more to the virus it will be all over for him. Harvey keeps telling Jim to fight the virus because it’s obvious he’d like to give in and kill Tetch. Fortunately, he holds it together enough to realize they don’t need all of Tetch – just his blood. Jim leaves Tetch’s body behind but takes a large container’s worth of blood.

Ed comes to in the backseat of the squad car with Oswald in the driver’s seat. Oswald admits he’s dragging this out because getting the upper hand over Nygma is like experiencing a moment of pure joy. As they talk, Ed is secretly working his way out of his handcuffs.

Barbara, Tabitha, and Butch head back to the club so that Barbara can pack up a getaway bag. She’s panicking and doesn’t have a plan, other than to get to their safe house. After she flees the club, Butch reminds Tabitha it’s time to kill Barbara. Butch is done waiting and thinks they can kill her at the safe house. Tabitha gives him a kiss and says they’ll do it together.

Harvey lets Jim, who’s taking out his anger on a locker, know that Tetch’s blood is good and they’re working on an antidote. They head up to the lab and Jim’s told there’s one syringe filled with the antidote ready to go. Jim refuses to take it and instead grabs it and leaves to give it to Lee.

Selina (Camren Bicondova) joins Bruce at the hospital, worried about Alfred. Bruce tells her to go home, yelling at her that he doesn’t need her pity. He won’t tell her what happened and after they argue, Bruce tells her he’s aware she doesn’t care about anyone other than herself. She tells him to have a nice life and storms off.

Jim meets up with Lee and she’s ready to help him fight off the virus. He attempts to inject her, but she easily stops him. She wants him to give in to his darkness and they passionately kiss while breaking the syringe with the antidote.

Ed’s worked his way out of the handcuffs and says he wonders if Oswald likes making the same mistake repeatedly, letting him live instead of killing him right away. Ed taunts his captor, telling him he could never love him because he’s a spoiled child who lets his base emotions drive him. Oswald slams on the brakes and gets out, ready to shoot Ed. He barely opens the rear door when Ed kicks it, knocking Oswald down and grabbing the gun. Ed points the gun at Oswald’s face as Oswald screams about the unfairness of the situation. “You will always fail because you’ll never change!” says Ed through gritted teeth.

“Your entire persona is based on a lie and there is nothing you can do to change that!” replies Oswald, not backing down even with the gun just inches from his face. Ed considers this for a brief moment and then says, “Actually, maybe there is.”

Over at the train station, police inspect all Gotham citizens who are attempting to leave the city. Jim and Lee bypass the public entrance and knock out the security guard in charge of an employee gate.

Harvey races through the station, calling out for Jim. Lee kisses her boyfriend and gets on board the train after telling Jim to stop Harvey. Harvey pulls his gun and asks Jim not to make him use it. Jim slowly approaches Harvey and Harvey doesn’t fire. Jim’s within arm’s reach and attacks his partner, telling him the virus has made him who he really is. Harvey says that’s wrong and that he’s the best cop he’s ever worked with (and his best friend). Harvey tells Jim to save Lee, if he loves her. Jim hits the side of the train next to Harvey, leaving a huge dent.

Jim gets on the train and notices the badge Harvey pressed into his hand has two vials of the antidote. He tells Lee he loves her and then injects her with one. She’s angry and asks what he’s done before she passes out. After seeing to Lee, Jim takes the other vial and injects himself.

Barbara knows Butch and Tabitha are after her and she gets the drop on Butch at his car. He tells her she would have been dead a long time ago if it weren’t for Tabitha, and Barbara can’t believe Butch wants her to think Tabitha wasn’t a part of this plan. Butch explains that he knows Barbara misses having Tabitha’s friendship and loyalty, and that Tabitha made Barbara a better person. Butch is still going through with his plan, something Barbara must have sensed and so she shoots him smack dab in the middle of his forehead.

Back at the hospital, Bruce sits at Alfred’s bedside and tells him to fight to live. Bruce begs his friend and mentor not to leave him.

Ed drives Oswald back to the dock, again, and says he feels great about ending Oswald’s life, again. Oswald says he’ll wait to say his last words, but Ed tries to convince him there will be no other time to say his goodbyes. Ed pulls the trigger and nothing happens! Oswald removed the bullets when Ed was knocked out, and he also called for backup when Ed was asleep. Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy arrive and Oswald easily has the advantage. Ed figures out the pin in the backseat was also a plant to make him think he had the upper hand.

Oswald admits he didn’t know Barbara was going to show up at the warehouse and if she hadn’t, he’d be dead. “Fortune favors the bold,” says Oswald, smiling. Ed realizes Oswald had also figured out he’d bring him to the docks. Oswald confirms that’s true and says, “I may be driven by my emotions, but you’re driven by something much more predictable – a desperate, compulsive need to complete what you’ve started in exacting fashion.” Oswald adds that he wants Ed around to remind him to never let love weaken him ever again. Mr. Freeze uses his freeze gun on Ed as Ed yells, “No!”

Tabitha makes it to the safe house but, of course, Butch doesn’t answer when she calls out. She sees a box on the table and inside is Butch’s fake hand. Barbara reveals Butch said Tabitha didn’t have anything to do with trying to kill her, and she asks Tabitha if they can put this behind them and move forward. Tabitha asks repeatedly if Barbara killed Butch, and Barbara finally admits she did because she didn’t have a choice.

Tabitha says there’s always a choice and throws Butch’s fake hand at Barbara. She then uses her whip to grab Barbara’s gun hand and pulls her closer as they struggle for control. Tabitha has Barbara against the wall when suddenly the fighting changes to kissing. However, that doesn’t last long and they’re back to attacking each other. Barbara’s once again against the wall but then she manages to get free. She grabs the gun as Tabitha’s about to use her whip. Barbara laughs, telling Tabitha she shouldn’t have brought a whip to a gunfight. What Barbara doesn’t notice is that Tabitha’s whip is around a nearby light fixture and she pulls it into the water at Barbara’s feet. Barbara’s zapped and dies, steam rising from her face as her eyes stare vacantly skyward.

Once more to the hospital we go and Bruce is still seated by Alfred’s bed. The news is reporting the antidote has cured 90% of those infected when Alfred comes to and Bruce immediately gives him a hug. Bruce apologizes to his lifelong friend, and Alfred says it wasn’t his fault. Bruce admits he lost his way and that in his search for a greater meaning he’s realized he has no idea who he is or who he’s supposed to be. Alfred can’t answer those questions and tells Bruce he’s a man and has to find his own path now.

Alfred suggests Bruce needs to find his true north and let that guide him. Bruce asks what Alfred’s true north is and the answer is simple: Bruce. He will protect Bruce at all costs, and Bruce needs to find that one thing that he will protect in order to find himself. As they talk, Bruce looks up and pays attention when the news reporter on TV says it will take years for Gotham to recover.

Tabitha’s back at the club when Selina arrives looking for Barbara. Tabitha reveals Barbara won’t be back and Selina says she’s there because she wants more than just to survive. Selina wants to move up and the club seems like a good place to start. Tabitha admits she’s also at a crossroads and when Selina looks down at her whip on the bar, Tabitha tells her to give it a whirl. It turns out Selina’s a natural with a whip.

Oswald says he’s going to open a new club and call it The Iceberg Lounge. Ivy thinks it’s because Oswald’s nickname is Penguin, but he reveals it’s also because of the club’s centerpiece – a frozen Ed.

Jim has made it back to Lee’s place and she’s not there but an envelope with his name is on the table. The note explains she left because in Gotham everyone feels alone. She confesses the virus showed her who she really is and now she feels reborn. She believes Jim can save Gotham and that Gotham can save him in return. She hopes one day Gotham will send him back to her. She signs it, “Love always, Lee.”

Butch is hooked up to a respirator at the hospital and the doctor says his chart lists his birth name as Cyrus Gold. (Were you prepared for that reveal, Batman fans?)

Jim apologizes to Harvey for throwing him against the train car twice and reveals Lee has left the city. Jim wants to be a detective again and not one who investigates secret cults or blood viruses. When Harvey suggests they hit the streets to see what they can stir up, Jim jokes that that’s beneath him since he’s the best cop Harvey ever worked with.

The final scene of Gotham season three is a pivotal moment in the series. A family is held up at gunpoint while walking down a dark street. Out of the darkness comes a figure clad all in black, face covered except for his eyes. He attacks the robber and saves the family before climbing a nearby building. He stands on the roof, coat slightly billowing out behind him to look like a cape. He removes his head cover and it’s Bruce, now dedicated to keeping watch over his city.

Fox’s third season of Gotham finishes up with a two-hour finale in which we seem to be saying goodbye, at least temporarily in a few cases, to key players in the show’s universe. The season three finale of Gotham also introduced a character fans have been anxiously awaiting and found a couple of established characters coming together, hinting at a new pupil/mentor relationship that will play out in season four.

Episode 21 of season three begins with an elderly woman under the influence of the Tetch virus holding up a bank while out on the streets of Gotham chaos reigns. The police hit the streets but their station is also being overrun as they try and get control of the situation.

Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) attempts to clear his head and fight off the virus, but it’s a constant struggle. When Harvey (Donal Logue) approaches him in the station’s locker room, he, unfortunately, has to ask for Jim’s gun. He’s not going to take his badge just yet, but he warns Jim the rest of the officers are watching him for any sign he’s infected. Neither Jim nor Harvey know Lee’s location, which is worrisome since she’s given herself over to the virus. Harvey tells Jim to prove Lee wrong and not let the virus control him.

Catching up with Bruce (David Mazouz), he’s locked up at the police station with Alfred (Sean Pertwee) watching over him. Bruce won’t talk and Alfred believes he’s been brainwashed but that he can still reach hm. He assures Harvey and Jim that Bruce Wayne is still somewhere deep inside.

Lucius (Chris Chalk) shares a rare bit of good news, informing Jim and Harvey there might be an antidote to the virus. It appears Dr. Strange was working on weaponizing the virus and on creating an antidote. Unfortunately, Strange is no longer in custody and Harvey blames the decision to let him go after they questioned him on Alfred. “Yes, I’m blaming it on the butler,” says Harvey. Jim figures out Strange will probably head to the downtown train station and as he and Harvey are about to head out, Lucius stops Harvey to warn him this strain of the virus is an accelerated version.

Jim guessed correctly and Hugo Strange (BD Wong) is at the station, but so is Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith).

Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) stands looking out a window and watches Gotham burn. Barbara (Erin Richards) joins Ed as he compliments the Court of Owls on their style. Barbara thinks now’s the best time to consolidate power, but Ed is still stuck on only wanting revenge on Oswald who happens to be with Fish Mooney now. Barbara tells him he’ll need muscle and she needs him to figure out how to get the city under her thumb. She’ll help him if he helps her, and Nygma agrees.

Strange confesses he was forced to do what the Court of Owls demanded and he tells Fish Mooney about the virus and how thousands have been infected. He tries to convince her the virus is all gone, but Fish isn’t having it. She demands he hand the rest over and make her an army so that she can rule the city.

Jim and Harvey arrive at the train station a little too late as Fish has already taken Strange away. As they’re looking around, Lee calls and says she knows how Jim feels with the virus in his veins. She can’t believe he’s fighting it so hard and suggests he listen to the whispers. She correctly assumes the whispers are telling Jim he’s a killer who likes hurting people and hangs up promising they’ll catch up soon.

Harvey returns to tell Jim someone spotted Strange. He gives Jim back his gun but warns him not to shoot any innocent citizens.

Harvey and Jim track Fish, Strange, and Fish’s men to a tunnel. They want Strange but Fish refuses to hand him over. As Jim gets upset, his heart rate increases and he’s ready to shoot. Strange realizes Jim’s infected and starts laughing at him. Fish wants to know what it feels like and Jim replies, “It’s taking all my willpower not to kill you.” Fish asks if it’s true there’s a cure and that Strange is the only one who can stop the madness. When Strange confirms that’s true, Jim is ready to shoot her but is thwarted by Mr. Freeze (Nathan Darrow) who destroys both Jim and Harvey’s guns. Jim is almost out of control and Fish instructs Mr. Freeze to cool off both cops. Jim’s able to jump up and aim a water pump at Mr. Freeze as he fires, creating a wall of ice between them.

Back at the police station, Alfred sits down across from Bruce in the interrogation room. Bruce doesn’t react to anything Alfred says until he brings up Bruce’s parents. Bruce is angry Alfred killed the Shaman, but Alfred explains the man and his Court of Owls manipulated Bruce and used him. Bruce strikes back, saying the Shaman and the Court of Owls took away his pain and allowed him revenge on the people who killed his mom and dad. Bruce hints the Court of Owls only paved the way for the “one who is to come” but doesn’t tell Alfred what that means.

Firefly (Camila Perez) and Mr. Freeze guard Strange and are about to attack when Oswald (Robin Lord Taylor) calls them off. Strange can’t believe Oswald and Fish are working together, and Oswald explains Fish has a vision for Gotham where freaks are in charge. However, Strange has to help them achieve it by providing the antidote. Strange says he can’t reveal its location because then he’ll have nothing to bargain with and tells them to go ahead and torture him. Oswald recalls how Strange tortured him at Arkham and he unveils the machine Strange used to make it feel like his head was being torn open and hot lava poured in. Although Strange agrees to tell Oswald anything he wants, he’s tortured anyway as payback for Arkham.

Jim and Harvey are trapped in the tunnel and they can’t even get the precinct to answer. Jim gives in temporarily to the virus and uses his newly enhanced strength to repeatedly hit the ice wall. He breaks through but once back out on the street, Jim has a difficult time getting back under control. He even rips the driver’s door off Harvey’s car.

Alfred asks Bruce who’s coming but he gets nowhere. Alfred tries to get his young charge to remember what is real, but Bruce thinks all that’s real is the vengeance he took on his mom and dad’s murderers. Alfred starts ticking off a list of what is actually real, like when Bruce’s mom would sit up with him all night when he was sick. It’s true Bruce’s parents are dead, but there is no life and no love without pain, contrary to what the Shaman made him believe. “He couldn’t have touched the love that your mom and dad gave you, that you still have it in you. You have that in here,” says Alfred, pointing at Bruce’s heart. “It’s the same love I have for you. I love you, Master Bruce. I would do anything for you. I would die for you. You must find that love again. Come back to me, Master Bruce.”

Bruce looks confused and touched, but Alfred is startled by noise elsewhere in the police station and leaves Bruce still handcuffed to the table. Alfred checks on the sounds of fighting in the main part of the police station and he’s immediately shot at. He dodges the bullet and attacks the cop who’s under the influence. The cop tosses him across the room and is about to shoot him when Lucius knocks him out.

Alfred returns to the interrogation room to discover Bruce has escaped.

Butch (Drew Powell) and Tabitha (Jessica Lucas) try and figure out how to play the Fish Mooney/Oswald Cobblepot angle, with Butch suggesting they send word to Fish about where Barbara and Nygma are weak. He thinks this is their opportunity, but Tabitha’s not ready. Their talk is interrupted by the arrival of Lee (Morena Baccarin) who downs a drink and asks for Barbara. Lee insults Butch and when he tries to kick her out of the nightclub, she uses her new strength to knock him on his rear. The crowd clears as Tabitha and Lee square off, but Lee doesn’t have time to deal with Tabitha now. She’s searching for Barbara and Tabitha’s just not that important. Since Barbara’s not around, she instructs Tabitha to tell Barbara that the next time she sees her, she’s going to rip her head off.

Bruce is out on the streets watching the city burn and the military attempt to clear the streets. Lucius and Alfred are following Bruce, trying to figure out who’s controlling him.

Fish Mooney, Oswald, and Strange make it to the slaughterhouse where Strange is keeping the antidote. He hands over the entire supply, which is enough to cure everyone in Gotham. Fish holds it and reminds Oswald they will rule the city. Oswald agrees but says he has to kill Nygma first. Fish confirms they’ll do that as well as kill everyone who attempts to stand in their way.

As Fish and her gang leave the freezer section of the slaughterhouse, they’re ambushed by ninja assassins who demand the antidote. Fish commands Mr. Freeze and Firefly to attack and while they do, the ninjas take out Fish’s other bodyguards from behind.

Harvey and Jim get word Mr. Freeze and Firefly were spotted at the slaughterhouse and head in that direction, with Jim slipping closer to full-on infected mode.

The ninjas are attacking while Mr. Freeze and Firefly are still holding them off when Jim and Harvey arrive. Jim springs into action, tossing ninjas like ragdolls and even forcing one ninja to stab another ninja. Infected Jim’s sword fighting skills are incredible and after taking out the remaining ninjas, Jim – without thinking about his actions – stabs Fish through the stomach. She drops the container holding the antidote and the tubes shatter when they hit the floor.

Oswald runs to cradle Fish as she’s dying. Oswald tells her he’ll get help, but with her dying breath she tells him, “Make this city yours or you burn it to the ground.”

Jim, now under control, realizes what he’s done. Oswald calls Jim a monster and Jim loses it, holding Oswald by his throat and raising him off the ground. Harvey knocks out Jim before he can kill Oswald, and the police arrive to finally arrest the survivors. Harvey asks if Strange can make more of the antidote and he says he can, but he needs one specific thing.

Tabitha and Butch attack the prison bus with Tetch inside. They grab Tetch as Oswald explains to Barbara that Fish is dead and Strange is going to make more of the antidote but the secret ingredient they need is Tetch’s blood. Oswald believes Tetch is the key to controlling Gotham.

Out on the streets of Gotham, Bruce spots a red door with a dragon painted on it along with the word “Yuyan.” Bruce hears the Shaman’s voice telling him to seek out this building, find the demon’s head, and fulfill his destiny. Bruce enters and spots a large demon’s head immediately inside the door. Bruce touches it and a secret door opens. He steps inside and the demon’s head door closes.

Bruce descends down the stairs to a tunnel. Upstairs, Alfred enters the building and sees the demon’s head while Lucius stays outside to hunt down Harvey.

The ninja assassins make themselves known to Bruce, pointing him to a specific room. There’s a pool in the center of the floor (a Lazarus Pit) and he’s warned not to touch it. Bruce says the Sensei is dead and a man enters the room and reveals he was the one who instructed the Sensei to send him to this building. The man says the Sensei completed his task, destroying the Court of Owls and burning Gotham.

So, who is this man? Of course, he’s Ra’s al Ghul (also known as the Demon’s Head), leader of the League of Assassins. Ra’s al Ghul (Alexander Siddig) asks why Bruce has sought him out, and Bruce replies the Sensei told him to in order to complete his training. Ra’s al Ghul reveals he’s incredibly old and people believe he’s a demon or a saint or even a ghost. He’s looking for a true heir and asks Bruce if he’s ready. Ra’s al Ghul knows Bruce was supposed to release the virus but didn’t, and Bruce blames his failure on Alfred. Ra’s al Ghul agrees to give him another chance and suddenly two assassins enter with Alfred. Ra’s al Ghul slaps Alfred after Alfred makes fun of his attire, and then Ra’s hands Bruce a sword to use to kill him.

Ra’s al Ghul says killing Alfred will help him fulfill his destiny, but Alfred tells him his destiny is to be Bruce Wayne. He’s sure Bruce will remember that one day, and then he recalls holding Bruce on the first day his parents brought him home from the hospital. Alfred swore to look after Bruce from that day forward and will do anything for him. Alfred tells Bruce to do what he needs to do, and Bruce stabs Alfred through the chest with the sword, screaming while he runs Alfred through. Alfred gasps and Bruce looks horrified.
