Lionsgate has released the official two-minute trailer for the upcoming reboot of the Power Rangers franchise. Saban’s Power Rangers was directed by Project Almanac‘s Dean Israelite and stars Dacre Montgomery (A Few Less Men) as Jason the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) as Billy the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott (The 33) as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, Becky G (Empire) as Trini the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin (Monster Hunt), and Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa. Lionsgate is set to release the action film in theaters on March 24, 2017.

The Plot: Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

‘Logan’ Final Trailer: Wolverine Mentors a Young Mutant

20th Century Fox has released the final trailer for Logan starring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. The new trailer lays out much more of the story than previous teaser videos and shows Wolverine protecting/training a young girl with similar mutant powers. Directed by James Mangold, Logan also stars Patrick Stewart, Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant, and newcomer Dafne Keen. Fox has set a March 3, 2017 theatrical release date.

Michael Green, Scott Frank, and James Mangold wrote the screenplay. Hutch Parker, Simon Kinberg, and Lauren Shuler Donner produced what could be Jackman’s final outing as the steely-clawed mutant. Although Jackman’s said this is his last film as Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds apparently wants Jackman to reprise the character in Deadpool 2 (or some future Deadpool project). Jackman and Reynolds recently shared a photo of the two with Pierce Brosnan, which led to speculation about Brosnan’s appearance as well as Jackman’s in the next Deadpool.

The Logan Plot: In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hideout on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

TNT’s renewing Major Crimes starring Mary McDonnell for a sixth season. In making the renewal announcement, the network confirmed Major Crimes‘ sixth season will consist of 13 new episodes. Season five’s first half averaged 10 million viewers, with the second half set to premiere on February 22, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT. Included in season five’s second half will be the series’ 200th episode.

In addition to McDonnell, the Major Crimes cast includes G.W. Bailey, Tony Denison, Michael Paul Chan, Raymond Cruz, Phillip P. Keene, Kearran Giovanni, Jonathan Del Arco, and Graham Patrick Martin. The popular crime series was created by executive producer James Duff. Greer Shephard, Michael M. Robin, Rick Wallace, Adam Belanoff, Mike Berchem and Duppy Demetrius also serve as executive producers.

The Plot: Major Crimes centers on a special squad within the LAPD that deals with high-profile or particularly sensitive crimes. Led by Captain Sharon Raydor (McDonnell), the squad includes Lieutenant Provenza (Bailey), Lieutenant Andy Flynn (Denison), Lieutenant Michael Tao (Chan), Detective Julio Sanchez (Cruz), tech expert and reserve officer Buzz Watson (Keene) and Detective Amy Sykes (Giovanni). Collaborating on many of their cases is medical examiner Dr. Morales (Del Arco). The squad’s work has also become a source of inspiration for Rusty (Martin), Sharon Raydor’s adopted son, who hopes one day to have a career as a lawyer.

Major Crimes features recurring appearances of Emmy winner Camryn Manheim as Deputy Chief Winnie Davis, Jon Tenney as Deputy Chief of the Special Operations Bureau Fritz Howard, Kathe Mazur as DDA Andrea Hobbs, Jeri Ryan as Linda Rothman, Ransford Doherty as Coroner’s Investigator Kendall, Rene Rosado as Gustavo Wallace, Leonard Roberts as Commander Leo Mason, Dawnn Lewis as Patrice Perry, Daniel DiTomasso as Detective Wes Nolan and Jason Gedrick as former Detective Mark Hickman.

In the upcoming run of episodes, the squad will move inexorably to fill the vacant Assistant Chief post that Fritz Howard has been temporarily filling, a position that Sharon is considered for as well – whether she likes it or not – creating tension within the department. In addition, Sanchez will try once again to become a father; Flynn and Sharon will continue down the path to matrimony; Provenza will consider retirement; Rusty will intern for DDA Hobbs as he looks toward attending law school when he graduates from UCLA; Buzz will attempt to help the family of the man who murdered his father; Sykes will confront an old foe in Mark Hickman; Tao will be instrumental in solving a case dealing with plastic explosives; and Dr. Morales joins the squad for the entire investigation of a very personal mystery.

NBC’s critically acclaimed dramatic series This Is Us has been renewed for seasons two and three. NBC announced the renewal and confirmed seasons two and three will consist of at least 18 one-hour episodes. There was little doubt This Is Us would be renewed for a second season, but it’s a pleasant surprise the network has given the series an early season three renewal order.

“We all got our wish that this is a hit show,” stated Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment. “This Is Us is as good as anything we’ve ever had, we’re thrilled to renew it for two seasons and there’s no doubt it will have a long life on NBC. On behalf of everyone at NBC, we’re grateful for the artistry of the cast, crew, and producers assembled by our gifted creator, Dan Fogelman. In a world where there are literally hundreds of television dramas, we’re proud to have one of the very best that is also one of the highest-rated.”

Season one has been averaging 14.6 million viewers and is the 2016-2017 season’s number one new show among adults. Overall, NBC reports This Is Us has been seen by 72 million viewers through its first 10 episodes.

The award-winning series stars Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Justin Hartley, Chrissy Metz, Sterling K. Brown, Susan Kelechi Watson, Chris Sullivan, and Ron Cephas Jones. Series creator/writer Dan Fogelman executive produces along with Don Todd, Jess Rosenthal, Charlie Gogolak, Ken Olin, John Requa, and Glenn Ficarra.

The Plot: This Is Us is a refreshingly honest and provocative series that follows a unique ensemble whose paths cross and their life stories intertwine in curious ways. We find several of them share the same birthday and so much more than anyone would expect. This Is Us is a smart, modern series that will challenge your everyday presumptions about the people you think you know.

It’s official: Will & Grace will return to NBC as a 10 episode limited series. The network confirmed the cast – Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes, and Megan Mullally – will reunite for new episodes of the comedy series that will air during the 2017-2018 primetime season.

The revival also reunites the creative team behind the 16-time Emmy Award-winning comedy show. Series creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan are back as executive producers and showrunners, with director James Burrows also committed to helm the new half-hour episodes. Burrows directed all of Will & Grace‘s episodes during the show’s 1998-2006 run.

“We’re thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and most defining comedies in NBC history is coming back,” said NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt. “This groundbreaking series for everything from gay rights to social and political commentary — all disguised as a high-speed train of witty pop culture — is coming back where it belongs.”

“We started talking with Mutchnick and Kohan about producing new episodes right after they shot the secret reunion show back in September, and the fact that all four of the original stars were excited about getting back into production is a testament to the joyful experience they had doing nearly 200 episodes for eight seasons,” added President of NBC Entertainment Jennifer Salke. “Few things cut through the clutter these days, especially in comedy, and Will and Grace is one of the best.”

Will & Grace was the highest-rated sitcom among adults from 2001-2005, according to NBC. 18+ million viewers tuned in to watch the 2006 series finale.
