Fire Country Synopsis, Courtesy of CBS:

Fire Country stars Max Thieriot as Bode Leone, a young convict seeking redemption and a shortened prison sentence by joining a prison release firefighting program in Northern California, where he and other inmates are partnered with elite firefighters to extinguish massive, unpredictable wildfires across the region. It’s a high-risk, high-reward assignment, and the heat is turned up when Bode is assigned to the program in his rural hometown, where he was once a golden all-American son until his troubles began.

Years ago, Bode burned down everything in his life, leaving town with a big secret. Now he’s back, with the rap sheet of a criminal and the audacity to believe in a chance for redemption with Cal Fire.

‘Tracker’ Season 2 Episode 12 Recap: “Monster”

Tracker Season 2 Episode 12 Recap
Justin Hartley as Colter Shaw in ‘Tracker’ season 2 episode 12 (Photo: Sergei Bachlakov © 2024 CBS Broadcasting, Inc.)

A missing mom case takes Colter (Justin Hartley) to Beachwood Heights, Ohio on CBS’s Tracker season two episode 12. Alice (the mom) assures her young son there’s no such thing as monsters while putting him to bed. She is proven wrong when Miles wakes in the night after hearing a noise. Alice is gone and the front door’s wide open.

Alice’s mom, Judith, apologizes for only being able to offer a $10,000 reward. Her daughter’s been missing for 12 hours, her car’s gone, and she’s not answering her phone. Judith lives in the guest house, and Alice would typically tell her if she was planning on leaving. Alice just recently began dating after separating from Miles’ dad, Greg. Judith doesn’t want to involve the police because Alice and her ex are fighting over custody. That said, she doesn’t believe Greg is involved.

Colter looks around and spots a cigarette lighter on a wooden box. Inside are Vicodin (prescribed) and some cigarettes. Judith thought Alice was clean, but she used to have a drug problem. However, three months ago, she had knee surgery. The Vicodin must be for that.

Miles joins them and says he thinks the monster took his mom. Something woke him up, but he doesn’t know what it was.

Velma (Abby McEnany) confirms that Greg was with his girlfriend, so he has a solid alibi.  She wonders if Alice fell off the wagon, but Colter doesn’t think that’s it. Only half the pills were gone after three months. Reenie (Fiona Rene) joins the call to say she’s heading to Indianapolis if he needs her. She’s got a new client who’s constantly being sued, and Reenie admits she enjoys the challenge.

Colter gets a ping on Alice’s phone’s last location and heads to a remote spot to check it out. He finds a brick with blood on it and a broken watch. Alice’s car is parked nearby with the driver’s door wide open and her purse and phone in the front seat. The car is still running, and there are signs of a struggle.

Colter calls Bobby’s replacement, Randy (Chris Lee), and they agree Alice probably knew her abductor. Randy found out she’s dating a married man, psychiatrist Sal Markowitz, and texts indicate he was trying to break it off with her. Police were called to Sal’s twice for domestic disputes.

Sal’s house is Colter’s next stop. The gate’s open and when he knocks on the door it swings open, too. Colter quietly enters, gun drawn, and finds drawers have been gone through. Water’s dripping in the bathroom, and Colter spots blood by the shower. He throws open the curtain and Sal’s dead inside, bloody and decapitated.  His head’s missing.

The cops arrive and Colter learns Sal’s wife is out of town. Detective Alden (Hamza Fouad) wonders if Alice could have done this, but Colter doesn’t think so. Colter points out that a notebook is open to a page on a patient. He believes the patient is the killer because Sal wrote that he has sadistic urges and cognitive distortions.

Colter also notices that Alice referred this patient, who goes by PJ, to Sal for treatment. Maybe Sal’s texts about breaking things off were about breaking off treatment – not a romantic relationship. They need to find the patient’s identity, but Detective Alden asks Colter to step away and let them handle it. Of course, that won’t happen, but Alden doesn’t need to know that.

Colter texts photos of the notebook pages to Reenie, and Reenie discovers Alice was studying to be a therapist but never got her license. She made it as far as treating patients during grad school, and Sal was her training supervisor. Colter thinks PJ went to Alice for help, and Alice then sent him to Sal. Reenie can’t access Alice’s files because her patients were minors.

Colter reveals that the notes included details on PJ’s recurring fantasies about a convenience store clerk. He’d watch her from Crockett Park, so that’s where Colter heads. He asks a clerk, Beth (Brenna Llewellyn), if he can look at their security footage, and she turns him down. She doesn’t want to get in trouble with her boss.

Colter shows her Alice’s photo and explains she’s a mom who just went missing. The guy who took her is extremely dangerous, and he’s been stalking someone who works at this store. Beth’s creeped out and shows Colter the footage. Colter spots a car that’s circling the store, and then they see a man get out and hold a knife behind his back. A cop pulls up and the man chickens out and leaves.

His license plates are muddy, but Colter can grab a screenshot of the man’s face. He has a fly tattoo on his neck, and Randy discovers that the man is Paul James Hamilton. He was released from prison six months ago. He killed his stepfather when he was a minor and received an early release from his 10-year sentence. Paul’s currently staying with his mom.

Paul has Alice tied to a chair and is reciting advice she gave him during therapy. She apologizes for what’s happened to him and reminds him she tried to help him. Paul’s upset that Alice left him, but Alice explains that it was the court’s decision, not hers. He asks her to finish his therapy because she’s the only one who understands him.

Alice begs to get back to her son, and Paul confirms he killed Sal. Paul admits he did it only after realizing Sal was going to turn him in because of his urges. He was enraged that a man who didn’t really know him was judging him.

Alice swears she can get him a better therapist than Sal, but Paul only wants her help.

Reenie learns that Paul has a storage unit and asks the clerk for access. Reenie explains there may be evidence of an active criminal investigation there, and she’d like him to bend the rules. He agrees after she threatens him with obstruction. Reenie looks around the unit, which is full of boxes and furniture. She spots a box of Paul’s things from the juvenile detention center and discovers it’s locked from the outside when she tries to leave the unit.

She doesn’t have cell service but improvises and uses a dolly to pry open the door. The clerk’s standing right outside and warns her she shouldn’t threaten people. Reenie isn’t scared, but the clerk should be, especially if he has outstanding warrants.

Tracker Season 2 Episode 12 Recap

Colter breaks into Paul’s mom’s house and notices a tripwire just in time to avoid getting shot. He checks for more booby traps before entering the room and discovering Paul’s dead mom and Sal’s missing head. There’s no sign of Paul or Alice.

Reenie describes weird drawings she found in Paul’s storage unit. She thinks they all resemble Alice, and many are set at carnivals. Colter recalls seeing a bowl of tokens that could be from an amusement park. Reenie checks the box and discovers Paul’s employee ID from the Happy Hollow Amusement Park. Colter googles it and finds it’s a seasonal park that is not currently open. It would be the perfect place to take a kidnap victim.

Alice attempts to restart therapy, and Paul talks about his mom. She was promiscuous and he’d catch her with men. His mom dropped him off at the amusement park to get rid of him. However, she caught him studying blowflies living on a dead rat. She was with a man so she laughed at Paul and pretended not to know him. “I gave her what she always wanted. A man who would never leave her,” says Paul, chuckling.

Alice acts offended at his laughter and says she deserves his respect. He shouldn’t treat her like his mother treated him.

Colter makes his way into the amusement park in the pitch-black night. He finds the utility room and looks for any breaker that’s switched on. The one marked “arcade building” is the only one, and a map shows its location.

Alice explains why she didn’t go for her license. She internalized what she heard from patients, and that’s what drove her to alcohol and drugs. Alice got help, and she thinks Paul can get help, too. The darkness doesn’t go away, but you can learn to ignore it.

Colter tries a door and it’s locked. Inside, Paul hears the rattle and goes to check it out. Colter unties Alice as she warns him Paul has a gun. Paul fires two shots but misses. Colter goes after him while giving Alice his phone and telling her to call the cops.

Tracker Season 2 Episode 12 Recap

Paul leads Colter on a chase through the park while exchanging gunfire. Paul’s hit but continues to run, making it into the funhouse. The mirrors make it difficult for Colter to determine Paul’s location, but he warns Paul that he doesn’t have to get hurt if he surrenders. Paul believes he was justified in killing his mother.

Alice joins them and asks Paul to show them he wants to be different. He notices she’s holding his knife and is just about to shoot her when Colter takes him out. Alice is safe, and Paul the monster is dead.

Alice’s mom and Miles arrive at the park as the cops are investigating the scene. Judith doesn’t have the words to thank Colter for finding her daughter. She hands over a check and then pulls her family into a big hug.

Episode 12 ends with Colter and Reenie eating dinner at a diner and Colter declaring breakfast is always the best meal. Reenie didn’t take him as a “breakfast for dinner” guy. He admits his mom always made them breakfast when his dad had his episodes. She believed it was like starting the day over. Reenie suggests Colter should speak to a therapist, and he points out that he talks to her. Her therapist was helpful and told her to start her own practice. But Reenie chuckles as she admits she likes that he confides in her.

‘1923’ Season 2 Episode 3 Recap: “Wrap Thee in Terror”

1923 Season 2 Episode 3 Recap
Helen Mirren as Cara in ‘1923’ season 2 episode 3 (Photo Credit: Trae Patton/Paramount+)

Paramount+’s 1923 season two episode moves the chess pieces ever so slightly. Spencer and Alexandra are on American soil, but neither is having an easy time as they head to Montana. Winter’s still wreaking havoc on the Yellowstone, but at least James has returned home safely. Meanwhile, Teonna’s group remains a step ahead of the law in Texas.

And now on to our full spoiler-filled recap.

James Dutton (Harrison Ford), his men, and Zane’s family survive the blizzard but must use the wagon for firewood. The severely injured Zane (Brian Geraghty) is forced to ride back to the ranch on horseback along with everyone else.

At the Yellowstone, the bodies of the deceased wolf and nurse are removed from the big house. Elizabeth (Michelle Randolph) huddles in the bathroom, refusing to acknowledge the obvious. The wolf was rabid and if she doesn’t allow the doctor to inject another dose of the vaccine, she’ll die.

Unfortunately, men are needed to hold her down since she’s fighting back. Cara (Helen Mirren) is done with all her dramatics and slaps her, reminding her of the poor woman who was just mauled to death by the same wolf. Elizabeth’s situation could be worse, and Cara tells her to act like a woman. Finally, Elizabeth allows Cara to inject her before falling, sobbing, back into bed.

Before Dr. Miller (Mark Daneri) leaves, he reminds Cara not to miss a single dose. As he’s about to leave, James and the cowboys ride up, and Cara realizes they arrived without the wagon. It’s a good thing Dr. Miller’s still around. Zane’s condition deteriorated on the ride home.

The cowboys gather by Zane’s bed until Dr. Miller boots them from the room so he can examine the patient. Zane explains he was hit multiple times in the head and is nauseous when he sits up.  He can’t follow the doctor’s finger with his eyes, and his vision is occasionally blurred. Fluid has built up on Zane’s brain, and the doctor diagnoses him with a subdural hematoma. He needs to drain it, incredulous that the hospital didn’t already operate.

Dr. Miller speaks to Cara and James alone about what he needs to do. He has a drill but no anesthesia. James returns to Zane’s side and explains the procedure, including that Dr. Miller can’t knock him out to perform it.

Jack (Darren Mann) finds Elizabeth in the middle of packing to return home. She’s done with the winter, wild animals, Montana, and their marriage – if he won’t come with her. Elizabeth refuses to live in a frozen hell and is set on traveling back to Boston. Jack needs to join her in Boston if he wants to remain married. Montana is not her home.

Cara interrupts to give Elizabeth her daily injection, and Elizabeth wants Jack to stay and watch. She writhes in pain and says, “Eight more, and I’m done with this place.” Jack remains silent.

1923 Season 2 Episode 3 Recap
Julia Schlaepfer as Alexandra in ‘1923’ season 2 episode 3 (Photo Credit:Lauren Smith/Paramount+)

Alexandra Learns the Brutal Truth About Being Poor and an Immigrant

The ship docks in New York, and Alex (Julia Schlaepfer) is just one of hundreds of lower-class passengers ferried to Ellis Island. First and second-class passengers bypass the immigration process by having secured their travel documents before sailing.

Alex looks with longing at her upper-class peers, unprepared for what’s in store.

Once she arrives at Ellis Island, her arduous ordeal begins. She quickly learns witty remarks don’t amuse the immigration officers. Alex passes the first brief physical, which includes a punch in the stomach to make her cough. Next up, she’s asked her name and answers “Alexandra of Sussex.” The immigration officer informs her he doesn’t care where she’s from; he needs her last name. She pauses and then, with a small smile, says, “Dutton.”

She informs the officer that her husband lives in Bozeman, Montana and that he’s an American citizen. Fortunately, that’s enough information to move her to the next stop in the lengthy process. She joins hundreds of other women lined up waiting for a physical exam. Alex sits beside a pregnant woman who explains she expects to be denied entry. America doesn’t accept pregnant immigrants if they can’t convince the immigration officer they can work enough to provide for two people.

Alex’s first physical exam is traumatizing. The male doctor forces her to strip naked, explaining America does not need mongrels or invalids. It’s an incredibly demeaning and intrusive process. The doctor examines every inch of her body, but it’s not until the painful pelvic exam that tears flow down her face. (A female nurse is in attendance but remains stone-faced throughout.)

The doctor notes that she didn’t disclose she is pregnant. He draws a P on her stomach so the next examiner will know. Alex is devastated to learn three more doctors will examine her.

The second doctor has her admit she knew she was four months pregnant. She can barely stop crying long enough for him to listen to her heart and lungs.

Alex returns to the bench to wait, surrounded by pregnant women. The woman next to her asks for food and reveals that to pass the final examination she’ll need to buy her way in or offer the officer sex in exchange for entry.

Alex is finally called in after spending long enough on the bench to fall asleep. The immigration officer doesn’t believe she’s joining her husband on a cattle ranch in Montana, and Alex doesn’t have a marriage license to prove her story. He demands to know how she’ll earn a living, and when she mentions her husband again, he orders her to stop lying. After all, no husband would allow his wife to cross the ocean in a ship’s hull with vermin and beggars.

Alex recites, “Give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,” and notes it’s all a lie. She reminds him Emma Lazarus wrote the sonnet to raise money for the Statue of Liberty’s platform. “A statue which stares down on us as you strip us of our dignity and inspect us like cattle,” says Alex.

She believes right now is the least free she’s felt in her life. Alex requests that if he’s going to deny her entry, he can at least do it with dignity.  The officer hands a book and asks her to read, to prove she has marketable skills. The book is Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass, and she finds just the right biting, relative passage to prove her literacy.

Alex points out the officer has lipstick on his neck. He stamps her paperwork and welcomes her to America. Alex leaves his office without responding.

She stands at the ferry’s bow and takes in the New York skyline. Once it docks, she walks through the streets, searching for the train station. She lucks into a very helpful newsstand clerk who helps her figure out that the route to Montana will take her through Chicago, Minneapolis, Fargo, Bismarck, and Billings. He also suggests the safest way to travel to Grand Central Station is by taxi. It will be expensive, but carrying a bag through the streets invites trouble. Also, she should keep her money in her shoe and watch out for nice people. You can’t trust them.

The ticket clerk at Grand Central Station is also incredibly helpful. He warns her she’s heading through freezing weather that she’s never experienced before and that she should spend the extra $30 for a solo sleeper car. Unfortunately, she can’t afford it and has to settle for a shared car. Once she makes it to Billings, she’ll need to book a ticket to Bozeman.

The clerk sees her take money from her shoe and tells her to return the remainder to a different hiding place. Every pickpocket just saw what she did. She also needs to hide her ticket, and she shouldn’t wait on the platform. Anywhere else isn’t safe for a woman traveling alone.

Alex looks around at the crowded station and heads upstairs to wait. She writes in a journal, speaking to Spencer and telling him she’s in America and on her way to Montana. After months apart, this last week has been the most unbearable.

“What calamity awaits to keep me from you?” she wonders. “What fresh hell has the devil devised?”  She confesses to being afraid the world won’t let her have him. She may be correct. The last we see of Alex in episode three is when she’s being followed by a man into the women’s restroom.

1923 Season 2 Episode 3 Recap
Michael Spears as Runs His Horse in ‘1923’ season 2 episode 3 (Photo Credit:Lauren Smith/Paramount+)

Marshal Kent Leaves a Trail of Dead Bodies

Runs His Horse (Michael Spears) arrives at the cowboys’ camp and meets with the boss. He offers to help look for strays in exchange for camping, and that’s fine with the boss. They’ll start pushing the cattle through where he’s camped in the morning, and Runs His Horse is asked to hold the cattle in the valley until they push them across the river.

Meanwhile, Marshal Mamie Fossett (Jennifer Carpenter) learns about the killings committed by Father Renaud and Marshal Kent. The dead are still lying where they fell, with their families caring for the bodies. A witness says the dead men were seeking revenge on two lawmen and a priest who murdered tribe members after questioning them about Teonna. Marshal Fossett knows exactly who they are talking about.

The Comanche vow to kill the men if they find them before Marshal Fossett.

Elsewhere, Marshal Kent and Father continue their search for Teonna, heading into Texas. Kent believes cowboys don’t care about your skin color. Teonna’s gang is probably working at cattle camps on their way to Mexico.

1923 Season 2 Episode 3 Recap
Brandon Sklenar as Spencer and Andy Dispensa as Luca in ‘1923’ season 2 episode 3 (Photo Credit:Lauren Smith/Paramount+)

Spencer’s Forced Into Bootlegging

Only eight minutes are left when we finally catch up with Luca (Andy Dispensa) and Spencer (Brandon Sklenar) on the road. Luca can’t believe the cows are so fat or that most Americans are fat. Spencer spots a roadblock ahead and pulls over to get a better look. (It’s in the middle of nowhere.) He sees men with guns stopping vehicles, quickly pulls a U-turn, and drives away.  Luca’s cousin gave them money to pay off the cops and guns to handle those who don’t accept bribes. But Spencer decides it would be safer to find a different road.

Luca looks at the map and finds an alternate route. As they’re driving, Spencer announces he wants to get rid of the truck. He’s not willing to die just to transport some alcohol. Luca tries to hold Spencer at gunpoint and force him to continue, but Spencer easily disarms him. Luca thinks his cousins are going to share their wealth with him. Spencer knows they just set him up to get rid of him.

Spencer is going to walk to the train station with or without Luca. Luca refuses to leave the truck and takes off on his own, returning to the roadblock. Spencer warned him not to try and shoot his way through, and as he’s walking, he hears gunshots. Luca tries to bust through the roadblock and is shot dead.

Netflix has officially begun production on the second season of Nobody Wants This, as announced with the release of a behind-the-scenes photo. Kristen Bell and Adam Brody will reprise their leading roles in the critically acclaimed comedy. The streaming platform has also unveiled four guest stars who will play significant roles in the upcoming season.

Alongside Bell and Brody, Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons, and Jackie Tohn are returning for season two. Season one premiered on September 26, 2024, and season two is expected to be released on Netflix later this year.

“An agnostic podcast host and an unconventional rabbi on the rebound walk into a party. When they walk out — together — the unlikely pair, Joanne (Bell) and Noah (Brody), can tell there is something between them,” reads Netflix’s season one synopsis. “But also potentially between them, with their differing outlooks on life, all of the modern obstacles to love, and their sometimes well-meaning, sometimes sabotaging families — including her sister Morgan (Lupe) and his brother Sasha (Simons).”

Netflix released the following details on season two’s guest stars:

  • Leighton Meester plays “Abby” – Joanne’s middle school nemesis who is now an Instagram mommy influencer.
  • Miles Fowler plays ”Lenny” – Noah’s Matzah Ballers teammate who gets set up with Morgan (Justine Lupe).
  • Alex Karpovsky plays “Big Noah” – An overly confident rabbi at Noah’s temple.
  • Arian Moayed plays “Dr. Andy” – A charming, highly regarded (particularly by himself) psychotherapist who might just be the perfect match for Morgan.

Created by Erin Foster, the Critics Choice Awards-winning comedy has Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan as co-showrunners. Konner, Kaplan, Kristen Bell, Erin Foster, Steven Levitan, Sara Foster, Danielle Stokdyk, Jeff Morton, Nora Silver, and Oly Obst executive produce.

‘Ghosts’ Season 4 Episode 16 Preview: Woodstone Has a New Ghost!

In season four, episode 16 of CBS’s Ghosts, Hetty’s ghostly power will finally be revealed. But first, let’s discuss the major twist at the end of episode 15. High Potential’s Deniz Akdeniz reprised his role as Chris, the dinosaur-loving stripper, and pitched a special “It’s Raining Men” package for Alberta’s descendant, Alicia, to celebrate her bachelorette party.

Unfortunately for Chris, the “Raining Men” package required him to jump from a plane and parachute onto the Woodstone property. He crashed through the roof of Jay’s restaurant and became the latest addition to the roster of ghosts haunting the property. It’s going to be fun to see how Chris will interact with the core group-and if he’ll hook up with Isaac.

Episode 16, “St. Hetty’s Day,” will air on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 8:30pm ET/PT.

Rose McIver stars as Sam, Utkarsh Ambudkar is Jay, Brandon Scott Jones is Isaac, and Richie Moriarty plays Pete. Danielle Pinnock is Alberta, Asher Grodman is Trevor, Román Zaragoza stars as Sasappis, Rebecca Wisocky plays Hetty, Devan Chandler Long is Thorfinn, and Sheila Carrasco is Flower. Tristan D. Lalla guest stars as Mark.

Ghosts Description, Courtesy of CBS:

Ghosts is a single-camera comedy about Samantha and Jay, a cheerful freelance journalist and up-and-coming chef from the city, respectively, who threw both caution and money to the wind when they decided to convert Woodstone Mansion, which Sam inherited, into a bed & breakfast – only to find it was inhabited by the many spirits of deceased residents who now call it home.

The departed souls are a close-knit, eclectic group that includes a saucy Prohibition-era lounge singer (Danielle Pinnock); a pompous 18th-century militiaman (Brandon Scott Jones); a ‘60s hippie fond of hallucinogens (Sheila Carrasco); an overly upbeat ‘80s scout troop leader (Richie Moriarty); a cod-obsessed Viking explorer from 1009 (Devon Chandler Long); a slick ‘90s finance bro (Asher Grodman); a sarcastic and witty native from the 16th-century (Román Zaragoza); and a society woman and wife of a 19th-century robber baron who is Sam’s ancestor (Rebecca Wisocky), to name a few. The opening of the B&B has been a source of intrigue, anxiety, and curiosity among the spirits, but they will gladly put up with the commotion as long as they can continue to interact with a living inhabitant.

‘Government Cheese’ Trailer: David Oyelowo Leads Apple TV+’s Surreal Comedy

Apple TV+ describes their new series Government Cheese as a “surrealist family comedy,” and the trailer confirms that’s accurate. Two-time Emmy nominee David Oyelowo (Nightingale, Lawmen: Bass Reeves) stars in the 10-episode series debuting on April 16, 2025 with the release of the first four episodes.

New episodes stream on Wednesdays.

Created by Paul Hunter and Aeysha Carr, the cast includes Simone Missick, Jahi Di’Allo Winston, and Evan Ellison. Jean-Michel Richaud, London Garcia, Djilali Rez-Kallah, Bokeem Woodbine, Jeremy Bobb, and Louis Cancelmi also star. Julien Heron, Djilali Rez-Kallah, Louis Ferreira, Thomas Beaudoin, Kyle Mac, John Ortiz, and Adam Beach round out the ensemble.

Government Cheese is a surrealist family comedy set in 1969 San Fernando Valley that tells the story of the Chambers, a quirky family pursuing lofty and seemingly impossible dreams, beautifully unfettered by the realities of the world. When Hampton Chambers (Oyelowo) is released from prison, his long-awaited family reunion doesn’t go quite as he’d planned,” reads Apple TV+’s synopsis. “During his absence, Hampton’s wife Astoria (Missick) and sons Einstein (Ellison) and Harrison (Di’Allo Winston) have formed an unconventional family unit, and Hampton’s return spins their world into chaos.”

Hunter and Carr wrote the comedy and serve as showrunners and executive producers. David Oyelowo, Charles D. King, Jelani Johnson, and Ali Brown also executive produce, with Hunter directing.
