The small town of Miracle, Texas is at the center of the new season of The Leftovers, with the town a popular destination after reporting zero departures. HBO’s just released a full trailer setting up the season two story in support of its premiere on October 4, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT. Justin Theroux and Amy Brenneman are back in starring roles, and the cast also includes Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler, Carrie Coon, Ann Dowd, Margaret Qualley, Chris Zylka, Regina King, Kevin Carroll, Jovan Adepo, and Janel Moloney.

The Plot:

More than three years ago, 2% of the world’s population inexplicably vanished. 140 million people, gone in an instant. No country, no state, no city was spared, except for one small town in eastern Texas. Population: 9261. Departures: Zero. This is the setting for a tale of two families: the newly-formed Garveys (Kevin, Nora Durst and Margaret), who have moved to this special place, and whose lives were forever changed by the Departure, and the Murphys, a local family, who seem to have been spared from an event that shook the rest of the world.

Also, attracted to this special town and hoping for miracles for his whole family, Matt Jamison has moved with his wife, Mary, who still suffers from consequences of the terrible car accident on October 14. Meanwhile, Kevin’s ex-wife, Laurie Garvey, has left the Guilty Remnant and reunited with her son, Tom, who may have finally discovered a cause to help replace the pain in his heart. And while Meg remains in the Guilty Remnant, it may not be the same cult she originally joined.

Dennis Quaid and Britt Robertson Star in A Dog's Purpose

Dennis Quaid, Britt Robertson, K.J. Apa, Juliet Rylance, and Peggy Lipton have signed on to star in A Dog’s Purpose based on W. Bruce Cameron’s bestselling book. Walden Media just came on board to co-finance/co-produce the film along with DreamWorks Studios, with Lasse Hallstrom (The Hundred-Foot Journey) attached to direct.

Cameron adapted his novel for the screen along with Cathryn Michon and Audrey Wells. Filming is expected to get underway this month in Winnipeg with Alan Blomquist and Mark Sourian executive producing.

“This heartwarming and humorous tale is a great addition to our quality storytelling brand,” stated Michael Wright, CEO of DreamWorks Studios. “Together with our partners at Walden, we believe that with Lasse Hallstrom directing, A Dog’s Purpose will find its way into the hearts of families everywhere.”

“We are proud to once again partner with the great team at DreamWorks on A Dog’s Purpose, a heartfelt and uplifting story that is in great hands with Lasse Hallstrom directing,” commented Frank Smith, President and CEO of Walden Media on their involvement with the production. “This film is a perfect addition as we continue to build and diversify our slate and bring audiences movies that inspire and entertain.”

Synopsis of A Dog’s Purpose, Courtesy of Forge Books:

This is the remarkable story of one endearing dog’s search for his purpose over the course of several lives. More than just another charming dog story, A Dog’s Purpose touches on the universal quest for an answer to life’s most basic question: Why are we here?

Surprised to find himself reborn as a rambunctious golden-haired puppy after a tragically short life as a stray mutt, Bailey’s search for his new life’s meaning leads him into the loving arms of 8-year-old Ethan. During their countless adventures Bailey joyously discovers how to be a good dog.

But this life as a beloved family pet is not the end of Bailey’s journey. Reborn as a puppy yet again, Bailey wonders–will he ever find his purpose?

Heartwarming, insightful, and often laugh-out-loud funny, A Dog’s Purpose is not only the emotional and hilarious story of a dog’s many lives, but also a dog’s-eye commentary on human relationships and the unbreakable bonds between man and man’s best friend. This moving and beautifully crafted story teaches us that love never dies, that our true friends are always with us, and that every creature on earth is born with a purpose.

Grant Gustin Interview – ‘The Flash’ Season Two, Karaoke, and Training

Grant Gustin Interview on The Flash Season 2

Grant Gustin says season two of The CW’s The Flash will find Barry Allen having trouble dealing with the acclaim that came from his heroic deeds in season one. Chatting about the series during roundtable interviews at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con, Gustin said Barry will have a hard time adjusting to this new love from the citizens of Central City.

“He doesn’t really feel like a hero because we’ll kind of see pieces as to what happened with the singularity when we come back and how it affected all of the characters,” offered Gustin. “I think one of the things that’s really weighing heavily on Barry is he knows that Eddie stopped Wells and he was the hero that day, but everyone’s kind of giving the credit to The Flash. And that’s not fun or easy for Barry, so I think that’s one of the harder things he’s dealing with right now. Now he feels he can’t really work with anybody because of the way everything goes down. He feels like he’s jeopardizing everybody and he wants to be a lone wolf for a little bit.”

Now that Gustin has one season of playing The Flash under his belt, he says he’s better equipped at figuring out what to concentrate on when it comes to training. Before season one, Gustin admitted he’s not a fan of running but he’s come to accept the fact that it’s integral to playing the part.

“[Running is] the one thing that’s remained a part of my training consistently over the past year just because…especially these first few months, I know now that it’s hot in Vancouver even though it’s usually cold. Right now it’s hot and I’m in my leather suit and I’m on the treadmill. So I was in LA in 97 degree weather running outside in a hoodie to get ready for season two,” said Gustin, laughing. “I feel much more prepared overall for season two, for sure.”

In addition to physically intense scenes, Gustin says that emotionally it was the scene with Barry Allen’s mom, Nora (played by Michelle Harrison), in season one that hit him the hardest.

“I think that was really well deserved just from the way that Greg and Andrew and the writers developed the whole season. I thought that moment was completely necessary and I thought that it was perfectly crafted. The first time I read that scene I was a mess. Like, I can’t think about it actually without getting a little affected,” explained Gustin.

He added: “After we shot that scene, I hadn’t experienced anything as an actor quite like that since college. Like being in acting class and kind of ‘being there’. I mean, it just really rocked me. I went home that night after shooting that scene – and it took like four or five hours because of logistical things – and I was still sobbing in the shower after that day. I felt very emotional after shooting that scene for days. I felt like I had said good-bye to someone I truly love or someone had died. That scene definitely affected me more than anything else.”

On a lighter note, Gustin admits he’s hopeful there will be more karaoke in Barry’s future. “The one thing I wanted for season two was just to have that episode 12 fun – just because when we come back it is pretty heavy still. Obviously just because of the way the first season was ending we’re having to deal with all that. So it’s out of the gate pretty season one emotional and heavy, but hopefully we’ll have more fun and karaoke at times,” said Gustin. “I even mentioned it, like, ‘Why not frequent that bar and bring Cisco and have that be a thing that we do on a regular basis?’ But, I don’t know. I’m definitely pushing fun for season two.”

The CW’s The Flash season two premieres on October 6, 2015 at 8pm ET/PT.

Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp Put Out a New Hollywood Vampires Album

Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp Bring Back the Hollywood Vampires

The Hollywood Vampires rise from the dead with a new album led by Vampires founding member Alice Cooper. The new Hollywood Vampires album will be released on September 11, 2015 with Cooper handling the lead vocals and Johnny Depp on guitar on most of the tracks. Also featured on the new album from producer Bob Ezrin are Perry Farrell, Dave Grohl, Sir Paul McCartney, Joe Walsh, Slash, Robbie Krieger, Zak Starkey, Brian Johnson, Joe Perry, and Kip Winger.

The Hollywood Vampires originated back in 1972 at the Rainbow Bar & Grill. “To join the club, one simply had to out drink all of the members,” said Alice Cooper. “I would walk in on a typical night,” Alice added, “and John Lennon, Harry Nilsson, Keith Moon–who would usually be in a costume like a maid or a chauffeur–Bernie Taupin, Jim Morrison and Mickey Dolenz would be there. The next week might be Bernie Taupin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Mickey Dolenz.”

The new album is a tribute to the original Hollywood Vampires and includes a note in the liner from original Vampire Bernie Taupin: “I’m not here to defend their vices. Over-indulgence of any sort does not ultimately constitute for a healthy mind and body. And while on the periphery of those involved, wives may have come and gone, career choices may have been deemed dubious, and heartbreak in some cases stalked a dark corridor, but in the lair of the Hollywood Vampires only joy and laughter reigned.”

“I’m not completely sure what constituted bad behavior back then, but in this lair it existed in a bubble, a hermetically sealed dome of fun. It may not have been the round table at the Algonquin, but these were witty, intelligent guys who often got raucous and loud, but rest assured there were no bystanders or animals hurt in the making of the Hollywood Vampires.”

Artist proceeds from the sale of the album will be donated to MusiCares.

‘Impastor’ – Michael Rosenbaum Interview

Michael Rosenbaum Interview - Impastor

Michael Rosenbaum says TV Land’s Impastor is cutting edge and funny, and he’s proud to be a part of the new show created by Christopher Vane (Wings). Impastor marks a return to starring in a TV series for Rosenbaum (Smallville), and at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con, he provided a little insight into why his character Buddy Dobbs is an incredible challenge.

Rosenbaum also talked about taking on a lead role in a dark comedy series, his co-stars, and what audiences can expect from the TV Land series currently airing season one on Wednesday nights at 10:30pm ET/PT.

The Plot:

Impastor is a dark comedy from Christopher Vane (“Wings”) starring Michael Rosenbaum as Buddy Dobbs, a slacker on the run from his gambling debt. Just when he’s about to end his misery and jump off a bridge, a reverend shows up and talks him down. When the reverend slips off the bridge and falls to his death, he leaves Buddy with the unlikely opportunity to steal the man’s identity and pose as the new gay pastor of a small, tight-knight town, leaving his bartender ex-girlfriend Leanne (Aimee Garcia) to clean up the huge mess he left behind.

Buddy begins to settle into his new life as a pastor with the help of his preppy new assistant Dora (Sara Rue), alluring church treasurer Alexa (Mircea Monroe) and enthusiastic secretary Russell (Mike Kosinski) – but the church president, Alden Schmidt (David Rasche) senses that something isn’t quite right. Curing sex crazed teenagers, stealing kids’ weed and reading Bible scripture may not be a bad gig for Buddy after all. Only time will tell how long he can keep up the façade.
